Canada Transformed Under Its Liberal Government

Under the latest iteration in a succession of Liberal governments in Canada it has become clear that a government that once never hesitated to state its friendship and support for a sister democracy recognized in Israel has taken great pains in the last decade to distance itself from the Jewish state and at the same time alienate Jewish Canadians by its deliberate oblivious attitude to the groundswell of antisemitism that has washed ashore along with the welcome of immigrants, refugees, illegal migrants and foreign students studying at Canadian academic institutions hailing from the Middle East and North Africa.

 

A Canadian government at present that has blinkered itself from its constitutional obligations to ensure the security of all sectors of its population base. The rising tide of violence against Jewish institutions that has seen synagogues and Jewish schools firebombed and shot at, Jewish-owned businesses vandalized, university campuses housing anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian camps harassing the Jewish professoriate and students, issuing threats and slurs, intimating another Holocaust, with crowds of protesters thronging the streets chanting 'final solution' and 'from the river to the sea', roiling the social order, elicits a mild condemnation of antisemitism, invariably coupled with rejection of 'Islamophobia' from government leaders.

Canada has become a hotbed of Islamist extremism, with a loud and hateful (hopefully) minority of its two million Muslim citizens and  residents of the country seething with Jew-hate and openly demonstrating their contempt for Judaism in the guise of anti-Zionism, a hundred-year-old modern movement to reclaim Judean ancestral land as a reborn heritage homeland for the world's Jewish diaspora, ceaselessly threatened throughout the millennia. Zionism has become fundamental to Jewish thought for it speaks of memory and longing and a fervent wish for a geographic place that is Jewish, where the pogroms that haunted Jewish life for an eternity could be safeguarded against.

 

Even that hope  has been dashed time and again by the incandescent hate emanating from Israel's neighbours in the Middle East; now reduced to a  degree from neghbouring states, but taken up with a murderous vengeance by the fundamentalist Islamist groups that are funded, armed and protected by states such as Iran, Qatar and Turkey and their non-state terror groups whose sole function is to achieve the destruction of the Jewish state. Arabs identifying themselves as Palestinians, aided and abetted by the powerful global institution of the United Nations have endlessly attacked Israel, culminating in a bloody massacre on 7 October 2023 which led to Israel's invasion of the Gaza Strip to rout out Hamas which led that savage incursion into southern Israel.

 

Jews in Israel and worldwide, soon seeing the evidence of sadistic torture of innocent Israeli civilians, with girls and women mutilated then mass-raped and murdered, families set afire in their community homes as a mass atrocity of unthinkable brutality took place, might have felt that the world would be moved by their tragedy, but such was not the case. The viral antipathy of Israel defending itself and its people, responding to the mass atrocity with a determination to seek justice by military means of defence and counteroffensive, soon realized that even the evidence produced by the terrorists filming their own predatory obscenities made little difference.

 

Palestinians have been forgiven their descent into feral barbarism; Jews are condemned for their response in defence of their existence. The slanderous blood libels of Israeli 'genocide' against Palestinians have won the public relations gold cup. Few are prepared to outright state that the virulently threatening antisemitism now common on the streets of Canadian cities are the result of permitting people with a culture of Jew-hate and an ideological-religious inability to honour the values and laws of a democratic Western government are being perpetrated by bigoted, hate-mongering Islamists.

Should such accusations of source emanate from Jews themselves, despite that those who are attacked clearly identify their attackers as Muslim, and when law enforcement does step in in response to egregious attacks, names of the transgressors are clearly identifiable as Muslim, charges of racism and Islamophobia ring forth. The firm reluctance of Canadian governments at all levels to admit that the presence of unregenerated racists whose first and only loyalty is to Islam and its Koranic passages of anti-Jewish denigration and loathing links directly to the politics of voter loyalty at the ballot box.

Mark Carney is busy demonstrating during his electioneering appearances just how prepared he is to act in Canada's best interests. He enjoys drawing the puny crowd presence that admires his background as a former governor of the Bank of Canada and of the United Kingdom, and his  high-flying days as the head of Brookfield Asset Management investment firm. When any hecklers appear during his electioneering speeches, he has reminded his listeners that he has made a sacrifice on their behalf; leaving the elite echelons of business to offer himself as a prime asset as Prime Minister of Canada.

 

He is prepared to address Canada's severe housing shortage that resulted in part from the Liberal government of Justin Trudeau's wholesale importation into Canada of a temporary workforce that could readily switch to permanence, a huge corpus of foreign students studying at Canadian universities with an option to remain as landed immigrants, and immigrants along with illegal migrants from countries whose values, culture and religious orientation are largely inimical to Canada's values and customs and resistant to its laws.

 

He has a plan and is persuasively speaking of "prefabricated and modular housing" that dovetails into his plan for a new government Agency -- Build Canada Homes, with an agenda to construct 500,000 homes annually, most of which would be prefabricated: "Prefabricated and modular  housing will catalyze a productivity boom", he prophesied. And in return, it was noted by keen observers that a major player in the modular housing industry by sheer coincidence just happens to be Brookfield Asset Management. 

As one of the largest investment companies in the world, Brookfield Asset Management spent $5 billion in 2021 to acquire Modulaire Group, a major manufacturer of modular buildings, specialists in the realm of "rapid urbanization". The very width and breadth of Brookfield's investments and its vast business interests guarantees that the company has the potential to be indirect beneficiaries of many of the gushing Liberal announcements to benefit Canada's advance into a 'brighter future'.

There was also a climate plan unveiled promising to "improve subsidies for heat pumps to make home heating more affordable". Just what winter-cold, energy-intensive Canada needs, to relieve home owners of the aggravating cost of energy. And so it just so happens that in 2023 Brookfield acquired HomeServe, at a cost of $5 billion. A British home repair multinational featuring heat pump refurbishments. In October, the British Telegraph newspaper reported that Carney had been actively lobbying the British government to increase subsidies for heat pumps on behalf of Brookfield.

 

"Mark [Carney] is working on our behalf in government and he did have a meeting on this with [Chancellor of the Exchequer] Rachel Reeves", Richard Harpin, founder of HomeServe related to the Telegraph. Newly released, Mr. Carney's  Canadian climate plan promised to "increase financial incentives for energy-efficient homes". The $6-billion Brookfield Residential, the property development arm of Brookfield Asset Management, a major builder of energy-efficient homes in Ontario and Alberta just opened Seton, a planned community outside of Calgary advertising as a model of sustainable building. "When you live in a home in Seton, you can rest easy knowing you've made a sustainable choice", their promotion literature boasts.

 

And of course, there are other incidentals, inconvenient ones as it happens, that as far as Mr. Carney is concerned, delve too damnably intrusively into his own private affairs, despite that he is required to disclose assets within 120 days of becoming prime minister, the deadline of which follows the election date. Brookfield's disclosures indicate that their former chief holds options to a value of $6.8 million. Mr.
Carney had placed his assets into a blind trust while he said, he was collaborating with the ethics commissioner to put "screens around certain issues" where his business interests may intersect with his policy decisions.

 

The Carney-Trudeau Nexus: How Financial Elites from Davos to Beijing Are Shaping Canada’s Next Federal Election  The Bureau

Michael Barrett, Conservative Candidate for Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands–Rideau Lakes, wrote the following letter to Canada’s Lobbying Commissioner:  Dear Commissioner,

I am writing to draw attention to remarks made by Prime Minister Mark Carney yesterday, which raise serious concerns about conflicts of interest. 

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Mr. Carney announced his intention to spend $1 billion on heat pumps, a decision which would clearly benefit companies in the heat pump business. 

Brookfield Infrastructure “is the flagship listed infrastructure company of Brookfield Asset Management (BAM).” Brookfield Infrastructure in turn owns Ontario-based Enercare, which specifically advertises heat pump retrofits as one of its offered services – including taking advantage of government rebate programs. 

As you are well aware, Mr. Carney was previously Chair of the board at BAM. While Mr. Carney has repeatedly declined to publicly disclose his assets and conflicts of interest, he has also refused to rule out some sort of continued financial interest in Brookfield. 

As such, it is conceivable that Mr. Carney might well benefit financially from the Liberals’ announced $1 billion heat pump program. 

This is not the first time that Mr. Carney has been caught using his political influence to advance Brookfield’s heat pump interests. 

In October 2024, London’s Telegraph newspaper broke news that Mr. Carney used his political connections to personally lobby the British Cabinet for heat pump programs. At the time, the Chairman of BAM subsidiary HomeServe bluntly stated, “Mark is working on our behalf in Government.” 

Also, last October, at the Prime Quadrant Conference in Toronto on October 10, 2024, Mr. Carney discussed how he provides advice to governments around the world while simultaneously benefiting Brookfield’s business interests.

Canada's spanking new 24th Prime Minister has occasioned a spurt of commentary from British pundits, warning Canada that it has acquired a leader of questionable merit -- for however brief a period of time, if a soon-to-be-announced federal election cuts his honeymoon short -- that the man just elected as the governing Liberal Party head following the resignation of former PM Justin Trudeau has a somewhat unsavoury history linked to his last public-sector job as Governor of the Bank of England.

 

Memories in Britain are not that short that they cannot conjure up the recent past when Carney was Governor of the Bank of England between 2013 and 2020, a period distinguished by a notable decline in growth, living standards and general productivity. One article in The Telegraph made reference to Carney as the "high priest of Project Fear", referring to his role in the 2016 anti-Brexit campaign. Marvelling that Carney appears to have "charmed Canadians" and "is now the figure most trusted by his countrymen to stand up to (U.S. President Donald) Trump."

 

In 2018 the pro-Brexit Conservative politician Jacob Rees-Mogg spoke of Carney as a "second-tier Canadian politician" who "got a job in the U.K." after "having failed" at Canadian politics. Having never held elected office, Carney became the Governor of the Bank of Canada during the financial crisis of 2008 under the then-Conservative government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He chose to cut his 7-year term short in 2013 to accept the Bank of England top job.

 

The Spectator U.K. magazine drew parallels between Carney's Brexit prophecies, his uber-concerning warning about climate change and his more recent warning relating to the economic threat Canada is facing under Trump. "Canadians should be aware that fear is possibly the most-used wrench in their new prime minister's tool box", columnist Jane Stannus wrote.

With the resignation of Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the hastily-called Liberal leadership campaign set to roll up on March 7, when the winner of the campaign will then inherit the prime ministership of Canada for as long as it take for the re-convening of Parliament and an inevitable election to take place with Canada's other official political parties all expressing their non-confidence in the Liberal party that has led the country astray for a decade, the leading candidates appear to be the past finance minister in this government, Chrystia Freeland and international banker Mark Carney.

 

Both pledge to take Canada in a different direction, to haul it out of the nonfunctioning status that Justin Trudeau had worked so assiduously to bring to fruition, from his dedication to environmental issues, deliberately hamstringing the exploitation of Canada's energy resources, admitting an unsupportable number of immigrants, refugees, foreign students, farm workers and illegal migrants whose presence burdened the faltering universal health care system, the housing market and led to toxic divisions between provinces and various elements of the population.

 

Never mind that Chrystia Freeland had been an enthusiastic promoter of Trudeau's ruinous reign, or that Mark Carney had been an adviser to the Liberal government, and his own oft-stated priorities mirror those of the man he is now campaigning to replace. The one-time Bank of Canada and Bank of England governor, environmental activist and elite board member of numerous institutions is now portraying  himself, just as Trudeau before him did, as the only one who can pull Canada out of its economic doldrums and unite Canadians against the imminent threat of U.S. President Trump's ruinous tariff threats.

 

He portrays himself at campaign stops, in interviews and debates as someone he is not. The "formal decision of the board" of Brookfield Investment of which he was chairman  to expatriate its head office was a decision made after he left the board to run for Liberal leader, he claims. While the opposition Conservatives claim Carney "sold out Canada" by overseeing the Canadian investment house move to New York, a December memo has been unveiled that puts the lie to Carney's claim of innocence. 

During the Liberal English-language debate for the leadership he referred to his tenure at the Department of Finance: "It was my privilege to work with Paul Martin when he balanced the books -- and kept the books balanced", he boasted. Except for the fact that his Finance Department presence was in 2004, a full decade after Paul Martin's 1995 budget led to the 1998 book balancing.

 

During an interview on The Daily Show, he boasted of avoiding a U.S.-type banking crisis in 2008-09: "We didn't let our banks do things that they didn't understand just because all the other banks were doing them", referring to complex financial products like subprime mortgages during the U.S. meltdown. "As Governor of the Bank of Canada during the 2008 financial crisis, Mark guided Canada through one of the most turbulent economic periods in modern history" his LinkedIn bio reads to credit him with "protecting jobs and helping ensure that Canada came out stronger". It was, in fact, the banks themselves credit is due to.

 

"I have helped manage multiple crises and saved two economies" he said in referring to his seven years as governor of the Bank of England, when Britain's economy stuttered from bad to worse when he was at the helm, and since, nosediving from 2020, when he left. Yet another Trudeau, one whom, yet again, the Liberal Party of Canada, which has brought the country to a state of 'post-nationalism', mired in Critical Race Theory and DEI, one where Muslim mobs parade through the streets celebrating the Hamas 'victory' over Israel, is prepared to carry on.

 

Canada can do better, much better than that. With the intention to leave the Liberal Party out of contention and return a rational, common-sense Conservative Party and its leader, Pierre Poilievre to preserve what is left of Canada and guide it intelligently back to its original proud state and get on with the job of correcting all the malfeasances of its predecessor.
