Canada's Home-Grown ISIL Terrorists

It's not as though Canadian government security agencies haven't been very well aware that some Canadian Muslim citizens have been taken into custody -- protective custody on the part of Islamic State wives and children -- as the Kurdish-led Syrian Defence Forces mop up the last remaining territory held by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, in the dying days of their dynastic ambitions, a period where the former Islamic Caliphate has shrunk from territory comprising at least a third each of Syria and Iraq, and growing, to its present parlous state of disappearance.

Disappearance only in the sense that the territory Islamic State celebrated as their growing Islamist imperialist caliphate is now defunct. Not that the deathly violent strain of fundamentalist Islam bequeathed to the world by the Prophet Mohammad in the 7th Century as the final rendition of god's omnipresent benevolence for the human race would or could be so readily suppressed. The jihadists held in prisons awaiting repatriation to their countries of origin to be dealt with there as those countries see fit; and the larger majority indigenous to the region, to be dealt with a trifle more expeditiously under their own system of law and justice remain committed to their death cult.

One that they were proud to display in the slick production of videos and magazines celebrating the terrorist exploits in ghoulishly imaginative ways, promoting the horrors of crucifixion, beheadings and any number of ghastly methods of torture preceding death, from drownings to immolations, explosives strapped to victims, or exhibitions of close-range shooting executions. Wholesome sacrifices to Allah as proof of faith; tickets to exaltation and welcome to Paradise as blessed martyrs to the cause. Of course, on the other hand, a few Muslim nations utilize similar means of capital punishment.

These are the psychopathic, soulless, Medieval minds Canada is preparing to receive. And despite the fact that these 'citizens' plotted to illegally leave Canada to join the growing ranks of like-minded cretins who celebrated the brave new world of the caliphate dedicating themselves to all the ritualistic, sadistic, murderous exploits of the group, Canadian authorities staunchly characterize them as Canadians worthy of return. How perfectly sympatico. Accepting their return, but uncertain whether sufficient evidence will be found to appropriately apply justice for the countless slaughtered victims of the caliphate.

As for the women and children to be repatriated, the women who had full knowledge of the desperate straits imposed upon other women, mere Yazidis and their children forced into slavery after having witnessed the butchery of their husbands and sons, placed into the debauched hands of Islamists whom sacred screed justifies having sex slaves and killing wantonly, what kind of moral, just punishment will be meted out to them? Why of course; social services. Canada the good has compassion.

Canada is unprepared for the return of these model citizens, scrambling now in the wake of the SDF taking more Canadians into custody around the last pocket of ISIS territory in northeast Syria, to ensure that the federal police force, the RCMP, shelve the assumption that these monsters were unlikely to come back to Canada. This, despite that the Kurds have awaited patiently action on the part of foreign nations to reclaim their own. It wasn't, in fact, until the United States faulted countries that hadn't moved to repatriate and prosecute their captured ISIS members that Canada roused itself.

Reaching a decision quite unlike that of the United Kingdom whose approach has been to cancel their citizenship. Magic solution ... no citizenship, no return, no worry. Not for Britain, at least. The Kurds can be forgiven for being less sanguine about being left with this wretched dross of humanity. As for Canada whose policy of late until the present was that the government could do nothing because the detainees were in what Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale called a "dangerous and dysfunctional part of the world" where Ottawa had no diplomatic presence, a tactical change took place.

Obviously, this alert Liberal government on the theory that late is better than never, as far as having made plans with respect to the eventual, potential and logical return of Canadian citizens who wore out their role as terrorists with Islamic State, is now rushing -- even as the Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in complete disgrace and disarray with internal matters of corruption of the rule of law -- to now chew on this issue. This is the country, not to forget, that endowed Canada's infamous al-Qaeda family's scion Omar Khadr with a $10-million prize for being a Canadian citizen.

So now we have the recently-awakened RCMP preparing for the return of at least a dozen Canadians detained in Syria while Islamic State is in its death throes as a territorial entity. The poison of its ideology not so readily expunged, however. As part of a national strategy now being put in place, police have been detailed to work with prosecutors in preparation of charges and peace bonds against the detainees, the while interacting with 'allies' to manage their return to Canada.

  

The RCMP’s National Security Joint Operations Centre is the fulcrum of the returnee plan, sharing information on Islamists with other federal departments and international allies. Passports of known foreign fighters have been cancelled, so to process their return to Canada they must apply for replacements through a Canadian diplomatic post — a system that will serve to alert the RCMP to their identity and whereabouts, to enable them to direct the return of these Canadian citizens who are the scum of the Earth.

Once released by the Kurds on instruction from Canada, the returnees are likely to cross into Turkey, a reversal of their original entry to Syria. That has resulted in the RCMP negotiating with Turkish authorities to permit the detainees transit through to Canada rather than placing them on trial in Turkish courts. As well, the RCMP has recommended that Turkey not question these Canadians about their Islamic State roles or search their electronic devices, since that might taint evidence required to successfully prosecute them in Canada.

Aha, there we have it! The RCMP is depending on Islamist terrorists who happen also to be Canadian citizens to bring along with them on their return to Canada ample evidence in their possession to enable Canadian authorities to bring them to justice. Typically Canadian expectation. The very fact Canadian authorities believe that these devotees of mayhem and murder are stupid enough to bring along self-incriminating evidence leads one to question the credulity of the RCMP. On the other hand -- they could be right!

The not-so-oblique reference to the over $10-million of public funds the Liberal government doled out to convicted 'child-soldier' Omar Khadr who had been trained as an al-Qaeda-affiliate by the Taliban to produce explosive devices and fight alongside the Taliban against NATO troops established in Afghanistan to free it from the grip of terrorist groups and was found guilty in the bombing death of a U.S. medic and the blinding of another, represents a condemnation of the Liberal's governments soft approach to Canadians binding themselves to deadly jihad.

Despite which pointed reference, Members of Parliament found it morally problematical not to support the motion, invoking the name, reputation and cause of a Nobel Laureate, so the motion was passed but for one dissenter. Member of Parliament Michelle Rempel is a robust defender of Yazidis, the ethnic-religious group that Islamic State targeted for mass murder of the men and slavery of children and women. Yazidis were not the only group viciously murdered by ISIL, Christians and Shia Muslims were also the targets of the Sunni-sect Islamists.

But it was the horrible plight of the Yazidis that drew international attention, when thousands of men, women and children fled Sinjar, their main city as it and countless towns and villages nearby were invaded by ISIL, men slaughtered and girls and women taken into captive custody as sex slaves to be violently abused and bartered. Those that could escape made their way up Mount Sinjar, to starve and to freeze to death. Kurdish factions led many of them down the mountain to safety, if refugee camps can be designated as 'safe'. Yet thousands of Yazidis remain marooned on the mountain.

And thousands of Yazidi girls and women remain in captivity as sex slaves. Those who manage to escape speak of the abomination of their experiences and appeal for help in rescuing their still-captive sisters, mothers and aunts. The world pays lip service to their dreadful plight but for the brave actions of some activists attempting to free the women from sex-serfdom, no solution is in sight to their plight. Handfuls of Yazidi families have been brought to safe haven; a hundred to Canada, another hundred to France, but the bulk of those long-suffering people continue to suffer.

Canadian Muslims who left Canada for the allure of joining the ISIL caliphate and engage in jihad as the Koran demands of its faithful, appear now to be less enamoured of their chosen flight, weary of murder, rape and beheading. And these are the eventual returnees that Justin Trudeau muses about rehabilitating and 'reintegrating' into Canadian society. They were never really 'integrated' into Canadian society to begin with, else the values of human decency and the rights deserving of all people would have been theirs.

Those expressing any degree of sympathy for men who now claim they are innocent of committing any form of violence while with Islamic State, and only joined because they felt it their sacramental duty, have no place in Canadian society, although there should be made ample space for them in federal high-security penal institutions where they should moulder for a period of time comparable to the lifetime of those who were murdered in obedience to Islam State's viral jihad of atrocities. 

 
Kurdish militias succeeded in defanging the horrible threat of an expanding territory for the ISIL caliphate. Kurdish soldiers took Islamic State terrorists into custody, along with their wives and their children. The women were just as involved in volunteering themselves for life in a terrorist caliphate as were the fighters whom they married and bore children for. Children who were themselves soon enlisted in ISIL programs to be taught the fundamentals of violating human rights and conducting various atrocities alongside their elders.

The Kurds understandably have no love for those they hold prisoner, and await the opportunity to surrender them to the countries from which they came. Unfortunately, those countries have no idea what to do with their terrorist citizens. These are not people who can be rehabilitated. The evil they represent and the horrors they perpetrated on helpless victims speaks volumes about their orientation and their representation as potential future members of any decent society. They have earned the right to rot in Hell; failing that, to spend eternity confined within solitary bleak prison cells.

Nashat Melhem was a man with a purpose. His purpose was to join the 'resistance' that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas constantly urges upon Palestinians in the West Bank and within Israel. Gazans require no urgent message from the PA to enlist them in the 'resistance' against the Israeli 'oppressor' doing its utmost to prevent violent attacks against its citizens, since Hamas does a creditable job at inspiring its terrorist-inclined citizens to become involved when the opportunities arise.

Because everyone seems to want to be involved in one way or another, either by admiring and elevating in esteem those with the 'courage' to attack helpless civilians and thus gain the prestige attached to the act, to portray themselves as martyrs for the common cause, to have streets or squares or buildings named in their honour; to have their names emblazoned on an honour roll, to have a generous stipend apportioned to their families in recognition of their noble sacrifice.

Nashat Melham was one such man. Shooting up a pub, a cafe and a sushi restaurant, creating a tumult of fear and despair, killing the manager of the pub, Alon Bakal, and Simta and Shimon Ruimi. He wasn't quite done with his murder spree that day, later killing a cab driver he had hailed to escape the scene of the carnage he had left behind, and Amin Shaban, an Arab Israeli also died at his hands. No comfort whatever to their families was to be found in his own death in a shootout with authorities a week later.

His cellphone had an audio message that his action had the purpose of delivering a message "so the Jews understand who they've been involved with, those sons of bitches". Now, that mobile phone message can be heard, and the visage of the murderer seen reproduced on a huge outdoor screen as part of a guerrilla art exhibition in Tel Aviv. A horribly evocative-of-tragedy exhibit to elicit a visceral reaction from passersby as they view three videos projected onto a billboard.

The first of the videos shows the attacker, the second the response of security forces in the aftermath of  his deadly attack, with the third showing the bar he had shot up -- only now it is being used for the purpose for which it was designed, to bring people together in a social atmosphere of spontaneously relaxed comfort and companionship.

The display is staged a few blocks down from Dizengoff Street where the atrocity occurred back on January 1. Its locale is Dizengoff Square, and the intention of the presentation is to show the depravity of the murderer, the ensuing chaos, despite which life continues. It is Mr. Douek's intention to make people think, to move the country toward preventing alienation by its Arab citizens, to avoid such separation and violence.

But he must realize, surely, that it takes two to prevent misunderstandings and resentment; equal efforts to succeed.
