United Nations...Fomentor of Palestinian-Arab Psychopathy

 

There are fundamental [emphasis original] historical truths, unalterable as long as Zionism is not fully realized. These are:

1) The pressure of the Exile, which continues to push the Jews with propulsive force towards the country
2) Palestine is grossly under populated. It contains vast colonization potential which the Arabs neither need nor are qualified (because of their lack of need) to exploit. There is no Arab immigration problem. There is no Arab exile. Arabs are not persecuted. They have a homeland, and it is vast.
3) The innovative talents of the Jews (a consequence of point 1 above), their ability to make the desert bloom, to create industry, to build an economy, to develop culture, to conquer the sea and space with the help of science and pioneering endeavor.

These three fundamental truths will be reinforced by the existence of a Jewish state in a part of the country, just as Zionism will be reinforced by every conquest, large or small, every school, every factory, every Jewish ship, etc.

Our ability to penetrate the country will increase if we have a state. Our strength vis-à-vis the Arabs will likewise increase. The possibilities for construction and multiplication will speedily expand. The greater the Jewish strength in the country, the more the Arabs will realize that it is neither beneficial nor possible for them to withstand us. On the contrary, it will be possible for the Arabs to benefit enormously from the Jews, not only materially but politically as well.

I do not dream of war nor do I like it. But I still believe, more than I did before the emergence of the possibility of a Jewish state, that once we are numerous and powerful in the country the Arabs will realize that it is better for them to become our allies.

They will derive benefits from our assistance if they, of their own free will, give us the opportunity to settle in all parts of the country. The Arabs have many countries that are under-populated, underdeveloped, and vulnerable, incapable with their own strength to stand up to their external enemies. Without France, Syria could not last for one day against an onslaught from Turkey. The same applies to Iraq and to the new [Palestinian] state [under the Peel plan]. All of these stand in need of the protection of France or Britain. This need for protection means subjugation and dependence on the other. But the Jews could be equal allies, real friends, not occupiers or tyrants over them.

Let us assume that the Negev will not be allotted to the Jewish state. In such event, the Negev will remain barren because the Arabs have neither the competence nor the need to develop it or make it prosper. They already have an abundance of deserts but not of manpower, financial resources, or creative initiative. It is very probable that they will agree that we undertake the development of the Negev and make it prosper in return for our financial, military, organizational, and scientific assistance. It is also possible that they will not agree. People don’t always behave according to logic, common sense, or their own practical advantage. Just as you yourself are sometimes split conflicted between your mind and your emotions, it is possible that the Arabs will follow the dictates of sterile nationalist emotions and tell us: “We want neither your honey nor your sting. We’d rather that the Negev remain barren than that Jews should inhabit it.” If this occurs, we will have to talk to them in a different language—and we will have a different language—but such a language will not be ours without a state. This is so because we can no longer tolerate that vast territories capable of absorbing tens of thousands of Jews should remain vacant, and that Jews cannot return to their homeland because the Arabs prefer that the place [the Negev] remains neither ours nor theirs. We must expel Arabs and take their place. Up to now, all our aspirations have been based on an assumption – one that has been vindicated throughout our activities in the country.

When, in 1947, the United Nations' Partition Plan offered the opportunity to form a state both to the Jews and to the Arabs living in Palestine, it was the Jews who, while disappointed that their entire ancestral land was not included, accepted that offer and declared their state in 1948, and the Arabs outright rejected their portion of the offer, making no secret of their aspirations that there be only one declared state, for the Arabs who thenceforth named themselves the only authentic 'Palestinians'.  

 

As history documents, some 750,000 Arabs fled the area that Israel declared its nascent state, urged mostly by surrounding Arab leaders, many by fear of an impending war, many more awaiting the war's outcome when they were promised by those same Arab leaders they could return to an Israel-free Palestine after its defeat by the combined Arab armies. When the five Arab countries declared war on Israel, thousands of Arabs were evicted by force among the total who fled. 

 

When Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon attacked the new Israel, they fought against a newly-established military with raw recruits with barely basic military training who were in the battle of their lives and that of their fledgling state. Miraculously, Israel prevailed, and the five Arab armies in their failure to prevail and destroy the Jewish state suffered the humiliation of the true 'Nakba'. The Palestinians who had fled gathered in refugee camps in those countries, none of which with the exception of Jordan offered them the legitimacy of citizenship.

 

For Israel on the other hand, the 150,000 Arabs who remained and who were given full citizenship in the Jewish State, to become a significant portion of the population, growing over the years to over two million, absorption was no problem. For Jews living in Arab lands, on the other hand, where they had lived for millennia under Arab rule, the creation of the State of Israel left 950,000 Jews at the mercy of Arab governments who confiscated their goods and properties and expelled them.

Israel was grateful to welcome these Sephardic Jews to join the mostly Ashkenazic Europeanized diaspora Jews forming the new state. Displaced Arabs and expelled Jews almost equal in number, both considered refugees, were viewed differently by the United Nations; the Arabs consoled and empathized with, and a special arm of the United Nations dedicated to their  welfare (UNRWA), while no mention, much less notice was made of the somewhat greater number of Jews externally displaced, left to their own survival devices.

 

Israel gathered 3.3 million Jews from 150 diaspora countries, from European Holocaust survivors to Jews out of the Soviet Union as well as Jews from ancient communities in Ethiopia and elsewhere. All the while, fending off one Arab military attack after another until the final 1973 attack spearheaded by Egypt and Syria on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Judaic spiritual calendar. 

 

The Arab-Palestinian attacks against Jews that began in the 1930s, steadily escalated after 1948, to become constant terrorism. There is no other country in the world whose neighbours constantly spur themselves to unending terrorist attacks against an adjacent neighbour with ferocious intensity geared to mass slaughter. The focus of Arabs calling themselves Palestinians has never been to develop the institutions required for a functioning state; their economic survival was never in question, thanks to the United Nations and sympathetic Western benefactors.

Arab Palestinians in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip have been patterned decade after decade by their leaders to dedicate themselves to the destruction of the Jewish state, with claims that it has been established on Arab-Palestinian-entitled land, not the ancestral homeland of indigenous Jews. Inculcating in the Palestinian Arab population the belief that there is no aspiration more sacred than that of a martyr, from children taught through school curricula and media promptings to honour those who have murdered Jews to the adults they become, proud of being part of a death cult.

 

The United Nations must take responsibility for the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives in this Middle East contest between Jews and Arabs, but it has consistently favoured claims by the latter over the reality framing those by the former.  

Disentangling UNRWA from Hamas

If there were any doubts over charges by Israeli intelligence that many UNRWA staff were members of Hamas, and that some of those members were present in southern Israel on 7 October 2023 when Hamas lead thousands of Palestinian terrorists on a deadly rampage through Israeli farming communities, towns and villages, and at a Nova Music Festival where thousands of music-loving young Israelis had gathered, and were subjected to mass rape, mutilation, murder and hostage-taking, that doubt was dispelled when UNRWA, given inescapable evidence, admitted that some of its hires were terrorists aligned with Hamas.

 

And then just a week ago the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine outright fired 70 of its employees, obviously in recognition of their deep ties to Gaza's terrorist groups. Canada's former Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper did not need such blatant evidence of UNRWA's connection to terrorism. Its record of UNRWA schools teaching children in Gaza from curricula depicting Jews as enemies and exposing the children to music, stories, television series and plays emphasizing the importance of pledging allegiance to the noble jihad of bombing, shooting, knifing the 'enemy' set them up for life as martyrs.

 

And with a direct and clear vision of the UNRWA mission to maintain Palestinians as victims and 'refugees' in perpetuity, the Harper Conservative government cut off Canada's contributions to that grotesquely compromised arm of the UN. When the Liberals returned to govern Canada 11 years ago, then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reinstituted Canada's payments to UNRWA, and now that same Liberal government under Marc Carney has done the same.

In the immediate wake of the UNRWA firing announcement, Canada's minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand announced $100 million of Canadian funding for the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which came to a total of $500 on top of earlier pledges. The latest donation, according to the minister was in support of the UN, Red Cross, Red Crescent and assistance-delivering NGOs in the region delivering aid to Palestine. The very 'State of Palestine' that PM Marc Carney joined the U.K., France, Spain and Australia in formally recognizing earlier in the year at the UN.

 

To add to what is well enough known of the waywardness of the UN regarding Israel, a special rapporteur for the UN has publicly revealed having been 'bullied' by colleagues for her efforts in attempting to reveal the scale of the atrocities that took place on October 7. An investigation by USAID earlier this month laid claim to 101 current or former UNRWA members -- principals, teachers, security personnel, attendants, psychosocial counsellors and medical professional being part of the October 7 massacre, which led to the 70 staff being fired.

 

At least 1,462 UNRWA employees in Gaza are members of Hamas, PIJ, or similar organizations—comprising nearly 12% of the agency's workforce in Gaza were verified up to this point

 

Yet UNRWA stated that "The dismissal of the staff is not part of a disciplinary process and does not constitute in any way a validation of the claims made against them", a statement which Hillel Neuer  of UN Watch made mincemeat of. And then the case of UN special rapporteur on torture, Alice Edwards, whose exploratory visit to Israel to document what had occurred on October 7, when everything she witnessed was laid out in a letter meant to be released to the public under the auspices of the United Nations, which she represented.

 

During that trip which Ms. Edwards personally funded, she witnessed evidence of murder, decapitation, torture, mutilation, the burning alive of people, sexual torture including gang rapes, mutilation of sexual organs, and hostage-taking. A severe backlash within the United Nations to the content of the letter was what resulted. Ultimately the adverse comments from her UN colleagues saw to it that "the letter shrank considerably", in content and impact. And that letter was then "transmitted" via the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine in Geneva -- to Hamas. 

 

Mohammad Abu Itiwi has been employed by UNRWA since July 2022. On October 7th, 2023 Mohammad Abu Itiwi led the murderous attack on the bomb shelter on Route 232 in the area of Re'im in southern Israel in which **16 were murdered, 4 were kidnapped, and only 7 survived**.

In Canada, Prosecuting Funders of Islamist Terrorism -- While the Liberal Government Funds Terrorism-Enablers

On May 12, 2025, at the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto, Khalilullah Yousuf (36), of Toronto plead guilty to two charges relating to the largest terrorism financing scheme in Canadian history.

Between September 2019 and December 2022, Mr. Yousuf used cryptocurrency and money transfers to fund terrorism overseas. Yesterday, in an agreed upon statement of facts, Mr. Yousuf admitted to the financing of terrorism, contrary to section 83.03 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

"As part of the plea agreement, Khalilullah Yousuf has admitted to raising over $15,000 through the platform "GoFundMe" and contributing over $35,000 to multiple receivers for the benefit of Daesh, a listed terrorist organization."

"Regarding the second charge, Mr. Yousuf has plead guilty to participating in the activities of a terrorist group, contrary to section 83.18 of the Criminal Code of Canada. He has admitted to creating and distributing a collection of over 3,800 internet-based hyperlinks. These links were curated with the purpose of radicalizing, indoctrinating and recruiting for the benefit of Daesh, a listed terrorist organization. Between October 2020, and March 2021, Mr. Yousuf communicated with an individual in the United States who was later convicted there for attempting to provide material support to the same listed terrorist organization."

"This is the largest terrorism financing conviction to date in Canada in terms of monetary value. This conviction is also the first successful terrorism financing conviction in Canada where the accused used crypto currency and the first where they used online crowdfunding."

 A 12-year prison sentence was handed down to a man, now 36 years of age, who has Canadian citizenship and was a resident of Toronto. Khalilullah Yousuf pleaded guilty to involvement and taking part in financing a terrorist group named as the Islamic State. He admitted to crowdfunding on such sites as GoFundMe on behalf of Palestinians in Gaza and for Muslim religious events, all the while collecting the funding by Canadian contributors to send what he collected to ISIS group supporters in the United States, Spain and other countries.

 

He had applied for, and received pandemic COVID Emergency Response Benefits (CERB) and contributed that money too that he received from the government of Canada under false pretenses. Supporters, on receiving the tens of thousands he provided for ISIS benefit, forwarded to him as proof ISIS was receiving the funding, photographs of weapons and ammunition provided by the funding, along with an ISIS flag.

This man and his schemes do not represent the rare and only incidents of funding collected in Canada by groups and individuals portraying themselves as legitimate charities whose only concern is raising funds for charitable programs to benefit Palestinians or other so-called marginalized groups, or civilian groups caught up in conflict in the Middle East, sending funding collected in actual fact, to the very terrorist militias that cause sectarian, tribal and anti-Western, along with anti-Israel war situations. There are a multitude of such groups masquerading as humanitarian while financially supporting Islamist terror groups.

 

In this instance, Khalilullah Yousuf, who was closely embroiled in an international ISIS funding network, communicated with the group through encrypted messages online, while taking part in recruitment and creating propaganda while providing methodology to supporters on how to mount successful attacks on behalf of violent Islamist culture. A two-year investigation on this man's activities involved intelligence forces in Canada, the U.S. and Spain, leading to an arrest in July of 2023. 

 

Cryptocurrency, increasingly being used for funding terrorism, may have signalled to authorities that there was something to investigate there. Samidoun, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Hezbollah and Hamas, have all received funding through Canadian sources that have successfully exploited the Canadian public to fund terrorism both abroad and internally.

 

Popular fundraising sites encourage crowdfunding in various and mostly specific categories that include patient medical needs, support of school teams, raising funds for Palestinian children, with sky-high funding goals. And while the platforms emphasize their trust that users will collect funds only for the stated reasons and not resort to illegally collecting funding in support of proscribed terror groups, any kind of actual policing of the results is not followed as being unfeasible.  

The Government of Canada itself sends mixed messages on the funding of terrorism; on the one hand decrying terrorism, and on the other continuing to fund it with taxpayer money. As with the Liberal government overturning the previous Conservative government's cutting off of UNRWA funding in recognition of its complicity in Palestinian terrorism where UNRWA-run school curricula teach Palestinian children to hate Jews and to visualize themselves as future martyrs in the 'struggle' against Israel.

 

Proven reports that UNRWA staff were actively involved in the October 7 attacks on southern Israel, and that almost two hundred were, while on UNRWA staff, also Hamas or Islamic Jihad operatives. UNRWA teachers glorify terrorism, encourage martyrdom, demonize Israelis and incite to antisemitism among their Palestinian pupils, modelling them in the vision of Hamas. Despite all of this, known and yet excused, the Liberal government continues its funding of UNRWA.

Palestinian Armed Gangs Looting Humanitarian Aid in Gaza

Nearly 100 trucks carrying food for Palestinians were violently looted on Nov. 16 after entering Gaza via an unfamiliar route ordered by Israel, say UNRWA and the World Food Program. CBC

Armed looters ambushed a 100-truck convoy of humanitarian aid being brought into southern Gaza in November. Among the truck drivers was Hazem Isleem whose load of aid was stolen when one of the gunmen broke into his truck, forced him to drive to a field nearby and unload over a ton of flour. By morning of the following day all of the supplies from his truck had been stripped by the gang. And by extension the convoy of just under 100 trucks comprised of UN aid -- meant to feed tens of thousands of Palestinians -- had been stolen.

 

There was nothing new about this, particularly. When humanitarian aid trucks first began entering Gaza to provide aid to Palestinian civilians, Hamas operatives, armed and focused, had comandeered the aid into their possession, stockpiling it for their members and in so doing depriving ordinary Palestinians from food aid meant to be handed out to everyone in need. Following the Hamas example, armed Palestinian thugs formed their own gangs to replicate the actions of the terrorists.

 

Much of the food ended up in open air markets for sale at exorbitant prices; food that was meant to be distributed free of charge to any who needed it, now available at a price for any who could afford to purchase it, in the process enriching those who had taken illegal possession of humanitarian aid for their own profit. Hunger is reported to be widespread in Gaza. 

 

Aid groups in Gaza say the food crisis is continually getting worse and the limited supplies aren’t getting to those who need them. Israel says there is enough food and few people are going hungry.CBC

 

And Israel, conducting a war against terrorist groups which had themselves declared war on Israel by invading southern Israel farming communities and slaughtering 1,200 mostly civilians, enacting horrific scenes of mass rape, mutilation and incinerating entire families in their homes before making off back to Gaza with over 250 infants, elderly, ill people along with a number of Israeli soldiers and foreign farm workers, as hostages, is expected to monitor the humanitarian aid situation to ensure food is delivered to those in aid.

 

In no other conflict has a military responding to aggression against its state and its people been obligated to ensure that the enemy's population is fed; a concern that Hamas itself has spurned, focusing instead on continuing its violence against Israel, complacent in the knowledge that it will always be Israel held to account for those Palestinians that Hamas uses as human shields, not themselves. Palestinian civilians who just incidentally, approve in the vast majority, of the Hamas atrocities committed against Israelis.

 

Armed gangs have taken over from Hamas in the ransacking of humanitarian aid; presumably the stockpiles of aid; medical supplies, food, fuel, that Hamas amassed in their warehouses, closed off from access to the general population represents a surfeit of supplies to keep the terrorists in good health while they continue to bombard Israel with rockets. 

 

 

Truckloads of relief have been piling up at Kerem Shalom, the main border crossing between Israel and southern Gaza while the truckers await a safe window of opportunity to deliver the relief, in fear they will be looted. The initial small-scale efforts on seizing aid now has assumed "systematic, tactical, armed, crime-syndicate looting" by organized groups, according to Georgios Petropoulos, senior UN official based in the southern city of Rafah. "This is just larceny writ large", he commented. 

Well, yes it is; but it is in fact just Palestinians taking advantage of a situation that suits their agenda; sparing little thought for those among them who may be in dire need of aid, yet positioning themselves to deny that aid to the needy, while stockpiling it for their own nefarious purposes of gain through theft. The astronomical prices the gangs demand for the commodities such as flour, oil and other items needed in parts of Gaza represents the incentives the gangs respond to, to the extent that they will shoot to kill anyone who gets in their way.

And while international aid workers take pleasure in accusing Israel of permitting looters to act with impunity, the United Nations will not allow Israeli soldiers to protect the aid convoys. The reason stated, that it would appear to affect their neutrality, is beyond hilarious, given that UNRWA employees consist in part of members of various Palestinian terror groups, Hamas members primarily, some of whom took part in the October 7, 2023 atrocities committed in Israel.

It is true that Israeli forces sought not to intervene by targeting looters other than those affiliated with Hamas or other terror groups. Shani Sasson, a spokeswoman for the Israeli military agency that regulates aid to Gaza, noted that Israeli forces now target armed looters attacking convoys. Israeli forces opened fire on looters waylaying trucks in Rafah, forcing their retreat. the UN aid trucks with the pathway cleared, rushed into central Gaza. And then the gangs regrouped and hijacked them on the road, stripping the trucks bare.

Israel  has moved to make it illegal for the United Nations' Relief and Works Agency(UNRWA) to continue its operations in Israeli territory. State officials in Israel may no longer, under the law, co-operate with the UN aid agency. A large majority of the Knesset passed the two laws in the wake of ongoing revelations of UNRWA staff complicity in the Hamas October 7, 2023 massacre in southern Israel.

According to an unnamed U.S. State Department official, the Biden Administration is "deeply concerned" over this turn of affairs. Despite which had the United States been the subject of such barbarian savagery, there would be no question of the ferocity of its retaliation against the perpetrators of the inhuman nature of such barbarism against its civilian population by a conscienceless aggressor. Think back to September 11, 2001. For Israel, September 11 and October 7 are interchangeable.

Afghanistan facilitated and nurtured the al-Qaeda conspiracy that resulted in 9/11 which led to a long and ultimately fruitless pursuit of both the Taliban and al-Qaeda. The latter's mastermind was eliminated but the state of mind that he expressed lives on. UNRWA has, since its inception as a permanent crutch for the interminable victimhood of Palestinians aided and abetted and incited its spirit of malevolent intentions against the Jewish state in the interests of destroying Israel.

According to UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini,the legislation "opposes the UN charter and violates the State of Israel's obligations under international law". When in fact, UNRWA's actions over the past 70 years have deliberately nurtured Palestinian Arab resentment, victimhood and hatred against Jews living in their ancestral homeland with the rebirth of Israel on a slender tract of land that represents a small portion of its original homeland. Another portion of which Palestinians rejected outright for their future state in preference to claiming the entire geography as their entitled due.

Accusations of malfeasance against UNRWA are not new; most Palestinians are taught at UNRWA schools throughout the Palestinian territories and in 'refugee camps' in the Arab world, using tainted curricula that fosters hate and terrorism. 30,000 staff are employed by UNRWA, mostly Palestinians. It operates in Jordan and Lebanon as well. The UN agency has long been known to provide cover and income to Palestinian terrorists and actively undermining attempts at peace negotiations.

Evidence surfaced in the wake of October 7 massacres when 1,200 mostly civilian Israelis, men, women, children, the elderly were murdered, another 250 abducted from their homes to be taken as prisoner-hostages back to Gaza to be maltreated, tortured, raped, starved and murdered while being used as barter by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The atrocities were participated in by UNRWA employees who also happened to be members of Hamas.

Of the over 1,000 Gazans employed by UNRWA, an estimated 450 are members of terrorist organizations located in Gaza, mostly members of Hamas. UNRWA experts dispute that the legislation newly enacted in Israel is in contradiction to international law. Simply put, Israel is not party to treaties compelling it to engage with a group such as UNRWA that actively agitates against the Jewish State. To permit UNRWA to continue its ongoing actions deleterious to Israel's survival would represent a nonsensical act of self-destruction on Israel's part.

While UNRWA announced on August 5 that it had taken steps to relieve nine employees who "may have been involved" in the Hamas October 7 attack in southern Israel, of employment with the Agency, no one in the Western legacy media much less government officials appear to question why it might be that the UN agency would even give employment to such questionable individuals in the first place. The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in essence became a useful shield for the Palestinian members of terrorist groups in employing them.

Another grave issue awaiting answers is the very fact that of the over one hundred UNRWA employees with terrorist links of whom the Agency was made aware through the transfer by Israel to UNRWA of the results of their investigations, why when "detailed information" identifying 108 UNRWA workers with links to Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a mere 19 merited an investigation with respect to those links by UNRWA itself.

In late January a dozen UNRWA employees were revealed to have taken part in the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel. That shocking revelation moved many democratic nations to suspend their funding to the Agency. The United States sent a bill for consideration to Congress that had the potential of permanently cutting off U.S. aid to UNRWA, while the United Kingdom's newly-elected Labour government announced July 19 its intention to resume UNRWA funding. For its part, Canada lifted its "temporary pause" on funding UNRWA.

When the Israel Defense Forces discovered a tunnel under UNRWA headquarters, they discovered within, "grenades, rockets, launchers, explosives, a large amount of weapons that would put any Hamas company to shame", according to IDF commander Col. Benn Aharon. With that intelligence at hand, Israel provided UNRWA with information that there were ties to terrorist organizations among a large group of its employees.

In response, UNRWA launched its probe of seven employees, and a further dozen two months later, ultimately announcing that on January 26 some employees had been fired. UNRWA has never confirmed the total number of employees fired. The Times of Israel responded on August  4 that "the nine employees that UNRWA stated Monday had been dismissed included staff members fired back in January."  

 

No word, however, of the large group identified by Israel's Foreign Ministry with possible terrorist links. Which led Ilad Erdan, Israel's ambassador to the UN,  to describe the  Office of Internal Oversight Services investigation as "a disgrace".

"[The UN Office of Internal Oversight Services in an August 5 news release stated it investigated a total of] 19 area UNRWA staff members. [For 9 UNRWA employees] the evidence, if authenticated and corroborated, could indicate that the UNRWA staff members may have been involved in the attacks of 7 October."

Among the evidence that Israel made available to its allies, including Canada, were (a) biographies of employees of the United Nations who participated in the massacre in southern Israel of that infamous October 7 day of barbaric slaughter. (b) Also provided were satellite photographs of schools in Gaza that had been built over buried terrorist bunkers. (c) Proof that Hamas rocket launchers were installed within mere metres of marked United Nations compounds.

Canada was given access to a wide range of Israeli intelligence, before the Liberal government of Justin Trudeau decided it would continue to fund the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, after initially declaring a 'pause' in funding of the agency, in the immediate aftermath of the October 7 assault.  A wide assortment of other donor nations mostly suspended funding until the conclusion of a UN investigation either cleared or confirmed implication of UNRWA.

Canada is not alone in deciding to resume funding rather than wait for the results of the investigation into UNRWA's involvement in the Hamas savagery in southern Israel that resulted in mass rape, the slaughter of over 1,200 infants, children, women, the elderly and the hostage-taking of an estimated 240 Israelis. Japan, Australia, Finland and Sweden also decided to resume their funding.

Canada's government, before its decision to resume funding, was given verifiable intelligence that Hamas views UNRWA as part of its civil rule in that it provides the material civic support and infrastructure to Palestinians in Gaza, leaving Hamas free to focus on its military terrorist programs. That briefing clarified that "Hamas is deeply and systemically embedded in UNRWA. Hamas members serve in all sectors of UNRWA activities, including key positions."

The United Nations has supported Palestinians as refugees for the past 76 years. Essentially the funding supporting the Palestinians serves to facilitate ongoing attacks against Israel, as they have since the Jewish state's re-establishment in 1948. According to the Israeli UNRWA dossier up to 2,135 UNRWA employees are members of Palestinian terror groups with over three-quarters of those employees Hamas operatives. Of that number, 327 serve in Hamas's 'military wing', the Al-Qassam Brigades.

Also included in the dossier were over a dozen biographies of UNRWA employees who had taken part in the October 7 attack; an UNRWA social worker seen on surveillance video removing the body of a man from Kibbutz Beeri; an UNRWA school principal who moonlights in the Al-Qassam Brigades among them. The school principal closed his school just prior to the attacks, notifying fellow Hamas operatives to muster close to the Gaza border. Eighteen UNRWA school principals are identified as Hamas combat operatives.

 

It is well known and documented that Hamas makes use of its civilian population as human shields, places rocket launchers, command posts and other strategic targets among and within schools, mosques and hospitals. At least 32 UNRWA facilities located within 20 metres of Hamas installations in Gaza were revealed by Israeli intelligence. Under the UNRWA-operated Maghazi Prep School B in central Gaza a tunnel was discovered, as well as a bunker underneath the UNRWA-run Zaitoun Prep School, both of whose principals are Hamas operatives.

Throughout the Gaza Strip, maps show arms warehouses, tunnel access points and logistical centres adjacent to UN-run schools, residences and facilities. A satellite image depicted construction of an underground bunker in 2010; an updated image taken in 2023 showed an UNRWA school built over the bunker. Hamas rocket launchers near Rafah were placed metres from a mosque and schools as well as throughout UN refugee camps nearby. 

"We have built the tunnels because we have no other way of protecting ourselves from being targeted and killed", explained Mousa Abu Marzouk, deputy chair of the Hamas Political Bureau in an interview with Russia Today, emphasizing that the Gaza tunnels were designed not to benefit Palestinian civilians from return Israeli fire when rockets are launched into Israel, but to protect Hamas 'fighters' and their infrastructure from the Israeli counterattacks, where Hamas is happy to sacrifice their citizens as 'martyrs'.

UNRWA has been heavily criticized frequently by  charges that it has links to Palestinian terrorists, more particularly the governing Gaza terrorist group, Hamas. It would have been difficult to deny those links since many of those UNRWA hires to implement their programs are in fact members of Hamas. In 2010, because of those proven links Canada's previous Conservative government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper cut Canada's funding to the UN group in 2010.          

 

When Justin Trudeau, the current prime minister of a Liberal government took office, he restored UNRWA funding. Funding that has now been announced by Canada's International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen, to be but a temporary suspension. Reality is, however, that the Liberal government's pious statement of having suspended funding to UNRWA now unequivocally stained with evidence that some of its employees took part in the October 7 pogrom in Israel, is an equivocation too far; the funds were provided prior to the declaration of suspension.

 

Prior to that, it was a known fact that UNRWA facilities had been used to stockpile Hamas rockets, and that launch sites were close to UNRWA facilities. When rockets are launched responses by the targets tend to aim back at the site from which they were launched, creating for Hamas the opportunities it seeks, to cast Israel in the devil's mould for 'targeting' crowded civilian populations. To which UNRWA was an enabler. When Trudeau restored UNRWA funding from Canada, he sneered at the previous government's cutting off the agency, for "political reasons".

 

"Quite frankly", he stated, in his inimical patronizing manner "Canadians expect us to be helpful in the world"; perhaps but not to terrorists. An estimated $110 million was sent from Canada to the UN agency. To an agency which, in Bearing Witness -- the 43-minute video detailing footage in real time of the October 7 atrocities being enacted and the shocking pleasure of Hamas operatives while murdering Israeli children, women and the elderly and desecrating their corpses -- amply demonstrates why not.

The Israeli non-profit IMPACT-se conducts analyses on a regular basis of textbooks from UNRWA schools, since the agency's primary role is schooling provision to Palestinians. In them overt antisemitic conspiracy theories and violent Jihad are featured, with Israel referred to as the "Zionist Occupation". And there geography publications feature maps where the State of Israel is absent and reading lessons come complete with "martyr", "attack" and "intifada".

A report in spring of 2023 by the German magazine BILD uncovered examples of  textbooks and course materials with anti-Jewish propaganda. One Grade 9 exercise described an arson attack on an Israeli bus as a "barbecue". The headline of the article in BILD read: "Germany continues to pay for hatred of Jews". When UNRWA officials were charged directly by Avi Benlolo of the Abraham Global Peace Initiative, their response to him was: "they admitted this was an ongoing problem but suggested nothing could be done about it".

There have been occasions when UNRWA admitted its facilities were used to house munitions and even rocket launch sites for Hamas and other terrorist groups. The agency wrote that it had "discovered rockets hidden in a vacant school in the Gaza Strip" in July of 2014, A following press release noted that a second discovery had been made and then a third. The munitions in all three instances were "referred to the local authorities"; in other words Hamas removed them for storage elsewhere.

In January, UN Watch issued a report detailing dozens of social media posts where UNRWA employees openly celebrated the October 7 massacres; in some instances even while the attacks were ongoing. A Telegram channel used by 3,000 UNRWA teachers and administrators yielded celebratory posts on the very morning of the attacks. Israa Abdul Kareem Mezher teaching at a UNRWA-funded elementary school asked fellow teachers to pray for Hamas fighters and the destruction of Israel.

A 2015 UN Watch report detailing social media posts by UNRWA teachers glorifying terrorism or antisemitic conspiracies resulted in several UNRWA employees being fired. One post shared publicly to Facebook read "Stab Zionist dogs". The agency's commissioner Pierre Krahenbuhl in 2019 was responsible for a culture of nepotism and financial irregularities, leading him to resign. Just recently he began new employment as director general of the International Red Cross.
