Killing Disbelievers

"If you can kill a disbelieving American or European -- especially the spiteful and filthy French -- or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that joined a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be."
"You will not feel secure in your bedrooms. You will pay the price when this crusade of yours collapses, and therefore we will strike you in your homeland, and you will never be able to harm anyone afterwards."
"Oh believer, do not let this battle pass you by wherever you may be. You must strike the soldiers, patrons and troops of the tyrants. Strike their police, security and intelligence members."

The man is basking in glory, he has his brilliant moment of fame for the jihadis and the ecstatic supporters of the ISIS/ISIL psychopaths. His moment of infamy in the opinion of horrified members of civil society, on the other hand. But no matter, attention has been focused on the man, just as it is focused on the depraved fantasies of the Islamic State whose agenda incorporates grisly crucifixions, beheadings, rape, mass murder and torture. They have become celebrities from Hell.

The rhetoric represents a dictionary elaborately conceived to reflect the values of civil society, in the process turning them inside out. Those responding to stomach-churning atrocities are the belligerents, while the perpetrators of the atrocities are performing their duties to their faith, misunderstood by the West, and victimized by the West which seeks conflict with the courageous warriors of Islamic fanaticism.
"We are currently in the process of examining these laws [Government of Canada] and examining other means we may have to monitor and to take action against both organizations [Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham and the al-Qaeda Khorasan Group] and individuals who may undertake activities that are potentially threatening to Canadians."
"We are continuing our dialogue with our allies to identify ways we can assist in responding to what is a genuinely serious threat."
Prime Minister Stephen Harper

The 42-minute Arabic audio harangue recently released by ISIS online by its media arm, Al-Furqan appeared on extremist sites for easy access to their audience. The message it contains, according to security experts, should not be dismissed merely as propaganda. That it does represent propaganda aggrandizing the fanatical Islamists is undeniable; that the slick social media messaging of ISIL/ISIS has aided its recruitment drive in the West, is also undeniable.

Its actual potential as a threat level, perhaps less well perceived, let alone received. "This type of possibility is not just a threat, but a genuine risk. It's something that needs to be taken seriously", cautioned Christian Leuprecht, security expert at the Royal Military College of Canada and Queen's University. Canada has committed to playing a role in the mission led by the United States to destroy ISIL/ISIS's and al-Qaeda's capabilities with the assistance of allies, including those in the Middle East.

Canada's involvement in this mission to destroy the Islamic State and equally threatening al-Qaeda groups like al Nusra does put it in the bull's eye of terrorist response. "They have been capable (of recruiting) young people without speaking directly to them face to face. If they've been capable ... through the Internet to reach them, I wouldn't be surprised that they convince some of these people that, instead of travelling to the Middle East, to stay here and simply attack us here", stated Michel Juneau-Katsuya, former Canadian intelligence officer now with his own cybersecurity company.

Which then speaks to the government's response to those Canadian Muslims who have left the country to go abroad to fight as mujahadeen in North Africa and the Middle East. Those who have been identified by Canadian intelligence will have had their passports revoked. Which effectively leaves them stranded in the sense that without a passport legitimizing their claim to citizenship, they will be able to travel nowhere. They must then remain where they are, dedicated to jihad.

Now we need to complete the circle, in a sense. What has also been revealed is that Canadian Muslims who have exhibited an interest in travelling to fight as jihadis elsewhere in the world and who have been detained by intelligence services have also had their passports revoked. And then we're stuck with them in Canada. Who needs them? Return their passports until they have reached their foreign destination, then revoke them.

Presumably they won't be missed by the Canadian Islamic community, either. "Any invitation to commit acts of terrorism ... is both wholly un-Islamic and deeply repulsive to Canadian Muslims, as it is to all of Canada", reads a statement from the National Council of Canadian Muslims. Of course, they're not saying they aren't prepared to welcome them back to the fold.
