Getting The Green Light
Who even knew that Palestinian terrorists awaited permission to allow them to embark on revenge missions? It's what they do, after all. What they're committed to. What they form themselves to achieve. What they train for. What they promise and threaten to achieve. What they raise funds from among their supporters for. To use in arming themselves with the most technically useful weapons.Who might have imagined that they'd allow themselves to be dissuaded from carrying out attacks, while honoured guests of Syria, and just biddably await permission for the opportunity to proceed?
Yet, there it is. The Syrian regime, enraged at Israel for demonstrating to the gaping world that the IDF had encountered no problems whatever breaching Syrian airspace for the purpose of performing what they promised they would should Syrian President Bashar al-Assad prove to be as determined as Israeli intelligence felt he would, and respond to Hezbollah's demands to be provided with more powerfully accurate missiles.
Inviting an Israeli response.
Mind, Assad is livid as well that the Arab League has officially given his seat within that refined and dignified group to the official opposition of the Syrian regime. But he has no mind to bomb them nor any wish to provoke them to send their assembled militaries to halt his slaughter of Syrian Sunnis. Not that the Arab League, despite the teeth-gnashing and hand-wringing of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, would be prepared to launch such a mission.
They much prefer to express their considered wish that the United States become involved. But this time around the U.S. is biding its time. The administration knowing full well the temper of the American people over this one. Their past sacrifices of treasury and lives lost to the duty of coming to the aid of the Iraqis and the Afghans from the destructive intentions of their religious peers provided a lesson of humility to the most powerful nation on the planet.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Not this time, not just yet. Nor has the United Nations much to say and recommend other than their usual special rapporteurs endlessly shuttling back and forth between the regime and the opposition, with one special delegate after another resigning in moral and mental fatigue. Everyone shuddering at the prospect of Bashar al-Assad generously sharing his chemical weapons with 'radical' Islamists, those red lines of last resort.
Israel rode in on a high wind and high alert to destroy the intentions of both the regime, its Iranian sponsor and its Lebanese terrorist entity, and now Syria has given the "green light" to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command to plan some interesting pay-back for Israel. Known as exemplary providers of atrocities to target the common enemy of all the Arab/Muslim nations, Sunni and Shia alike, they're on a roll.
"Syria has given the green light to set up missile batteries to directly attack Israeli targets" boasted Anwar Raja, their Damascus spokesman. The U.S. may speak of 'red lines' it has no intention of crossing itself, but the PFLP is anticipating their red-letter day of delivering death en masse to the primary provoker of Muslim rage.
