Dr. Algu worked at Mount Sinai Hospital as a palliative care doctor for a decade. Then came October 7, 2023, and she became an instant advocate for Palestinian rights when Israel responded to the massacre, rapes, mutilations, hostage-taking by Palestinian terrorists flooding into southern Israel from Gaza, led by Hamas. All the propaganda of Palestinian victimhood by a racist-occupying Jewish state that was propagated in the West by willing news media convinced many people, validated by Palestinian student groups marching through Canadian cities to label Israel genocidal, set the stage for savage harassment of Canadian Jews.

 

Mount Sinai Hospital was created in the early 20th century by Jewish-Canadian doctors and other Jewish health-care professionals who found themselves locked out of Canada's health and medical institutions at a time of severe national antisemitism. The hospital gained a reputation as an outstanding institution delivering top health care. And nor did it confine its services to the Jewish-Canadian population; anyone could be treated there, and in time staff expanded to include non-Jewish health practitioners.

 

Dr. Algu resigned from her post at the hospital months after October 7. A result of the palliative care department being roiled with disorder stemming from her anti-Israel activities condemning the Jewish state as genocidal. The hospital administration, alarmed at the sudden dysfunction among formerly collegial medical staff called in a a workplace investigator when Dr Algu lodged a complaint of discrimination. The investigation found that she was disruptive, unprofessional and her disproportionately negative impact in the workplace culture was injurious to the delivery of health care. 

 

 

Some unit physicians declared their feelings of antisemitism within the discord; this when Jewish healthcare workers in other hospitals reported rising prejudice and trauma dismissal resulting from the Hamas attack in Israel, within clinical, academic and social-media institutions. While divisions within the Mount Sinai palliative care unit deepened, departmental heads attempting to be fair and supportive to all, hesitated to delineate clear expectations and boundaries, according to a separate workplace assessment.

 

Deep divisions arose among some hospital staff in the wake of the Israel-Gaza conflict. An open letter was signed by some doctors including Algu's supervisor from the palliative care unit stating that accusing Israel of "apartheid" or "genocide" was untruthful and antisemitic. In response Dr. Algu wrote an open letter of her own, invoking the Canadian government's intervention to broker a ceasefire and support access to medical aid in Gaza.

 

Another doctor at the palliative care unit, Hershl Berman, posted a screenshot of an earlier tweet by Algu on X. She had demanded the University of Toronto stop investing in companies profiting from what the International Court of Justice "has already deemed plausible genocide". Dr. Algu's name and profile photo appeared on Dr. Berman's post, with the caption: "Just because a loud racist minority is yelling hate and lies does not mean U of T has to bow to their wishes even if those people are doctors". 

 

Another of Dr. Berman's X posts stated that people who would avoid a Jewish doctor who supports Israel were fee to find other doctors, given that there were ample nonracist patients to look after. Dr. Algu stated that the post targeted her specifically, creating an "unsafe professional and academic environment". One that she contended violated Sinai Health's respectful workplace policy, forbidding "any act of discrimination, harassment, bullying, or incivility toward any of Sinai Health's people".

 

The environment assessment found Sinai Health leadership failed to manage challenges relating to the expression of views around Israel-Palestine as the leaders had practised a "softer, compassionate approach" and did not clearly and decisively communicate expectations and boundaries during a complex geopolitical situation. The report concluded that Dr. Algu appeared to have a "disproportionately negative impact" on the workplace culture.  

 

A letter was sent to Dr. Algu by the hospital referencing concerns that she posed a risk to safety, including the investigator's assessment of unspecified colleagues who said her social media advocacy was "irresponsible" and inconsiderate of the impact it had on them. She was notified of potential consequences such as sanctions or penalties that could impact the scope of her practise or ability to work in the health system.

In 2022 it was revealed that the Canadian Heritage Department had paid out $500,000 to Laith Marouf who presented himself as a human rights expert, a 'consultant' with his organization Community Media Advocacy Center under a departmental Anti-Racism Project to teach the parameters of human rights to public sector employees in the federal government. The then-minister of Canadian Heritage, Ahmed Hussen had seen fit to dismiss charges brought to him by an investigative journalist that Laith Marouf happened to be an ardent anti-Semite whose social media postings revealed the depth of his racism.

 

The reaction from the Jewish community was understandably aghast that a man who posted such abusive sentiments as to describe Jews as "bags of human feces" for whom "a bullet to the head" would end their existence. As Jaime Kirzner-Roberts of Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies responded: "Regardless of the hate and propaganda he promotes, for years [Marouf] was able to sell himself to the government as a legitimate enterprise, regardless of how absolutely offensive his communications were. It is profoundly troubling that this individual was supported and enabled in his hate speech, and the government needs to overhaul whatever problem is in these programs."

Several years on, we find that same government department, under the same Liberal government, finding it expedient to fund yet another group, ostensibly as a bridge between communities at loggerheads with one another. Bearing in mind that it is Palestinian groups in Canada -- and in Toronto in very particular -- that go out of their way in every conceivable venue at every opportunity to slander, threaten and intimidate the Jewish community, whereas the Jewish community commits no such aggression against their counterparts.

 

Yet a group calling itself Toronto Palestinian Families -- describing its purpose as "a grassroots group led by Palestinian families advocating for safe and inclusive spaces free from anti-Palestinian racism and other forms of inequity", which has links to other Palestinian groups that deny the legitimacy of the state of Israel and have occupied the streets of cities in Canada in brazen displays of antisemitism since October 7, 2023's Hamas terrorism atrocity in southern Israel -- was deemed fit for government support in its activities.

 

In 2019, the Canadian government officially adopted the International Holocaust 
Remembrance Alliance Working Definition of Antisemitism, one of whose tenets is that it is antisemitic to deny "the Jewish people their right to s elf-determination" through denial of Israel's right to exist. Directly contradicting this very issue, the Toronto Palestinian Families states as one of its goals to "build collaborations with organizations that teach Jewish identity that is not inherently linked to Israel". In other words "progressive Jewish voices"; that minimal percentage of Canadian Jews who are anti-Zionist. 

 

Once again Canadian Heritage failed its due diligence in awarding grant funding to an organization that promotes hatred. Toronto Palestinian Families presented a proposal which they titled "Combating Anti-Semitism and Anti-Palestinian Racism for All", to which the department of Canadian Heritage responded with a $100,000 funding grant. The Palestinian group, in supposed collaboration with a Jewish group of a similar name deplore the "unparalleled and unprecedented" killing of civilians leading Gaza to become "a graveyard for children", in the words of the UN's Antonio Guterres.

 

What, one may ask, is anti-Palestinian racism? The Palestinians are not a race, they are a conglomerate of Arabs originally from Syria, Egypt and Jordan which settled in the Palestine of Judean origins dating from the Roman Occupation and now claiming the title of Palestinians. And it has always been those Arab Palestinians whose violent, deadly assaults against Israel and Jews that have roiled their region of the Middle East, with Israel left to protect its citizens from the Islamist-jihadist mentality of Islamofascism. Imported directly to Canada to enrich the notion of multiculturalism. 

 

 

 

On Instagram, Toronto Palestinian Families  advises its followers through a guide  to "Navigating the TDSB (Toronto District School Board): For Palestinian & Ally families" listing as a priority "ending collaborations with groups that erroneously teach that Jewish identity is inherently linked to the State of Israel". A post created by the Toronto faction of Palestinian Youth Movement, a group with ties to Samidoun, listed as a terrorist organization in Canada, was shared by TPF featuring a masked man raising a Palestinian flag and alerting followers to a demonstration to mark the "second anniversary of the ongoing genocide against our people in Gaza". 

 

 

Violent Hatred 'In Good Faith'

"We fear that because representatives, or would-be representatives, of some groups, came to the committee and sat there, that the Liberals fear backlash against them within some communities and that because of that, they have cancelled today's meeting."

Unsaid, but quite well understood is the identity of those would-be representatives, the Muslim community in Canada's various representative groups, all of which are offended by a move by the minority federal government, requiring support from opposition parties to pass bills that would affect them. As in 'freedom of speech' careening into hate speech which moves beyond the civil permissible into the dark areas of threats and support for violence to the point where killing a certain segment of the population is inferred, if not outright stated.

 

The Canadian-Jewish community has been increasingly targeted by various Islamist Muslim groups within Canada in constant 'demonstrations' and mass rallies where masked, keffiyeh-clad, Palestinian-flag -waving groups gather in the public square, block highways, pose threats in front of synagogues, Jewish parochial schools, Jewish community centres, private Jewish businesses, municipal council chambers to shout the invectives of 'globalize the intifada', 'final solution', 'from the river to the sea', and 'Jews go back to Europe!'

 

There are laws in Canada that prohibit this kind of action and activities that border on and often exceed permissible public social behaviour where property is damaged, defaced, and otherwise vandalized, threats are issued and peoples' ingress and egress to schools, meetings, hospitals are impeded. Much less vehicular traffic stopped, including fire trucks and ambulances when shouting, threatening groups fill the space and become deliberately immovable, or prostate themselves in unison in displays of public prayer.

 

Unfortunately, those laws have not been enforced; neither municipal authorities nor the police associated with those municipalities act to stop such events, clear the streets and apprehend those whose actions stand out as abusive and threatening and criminal in nature. What is cited is the sacrosanct right of  'freedom of speech', amidst the intimidating scenarios. And the propensity of many wearing masks, holding placards damning Israel and shouting 'globalize the intifada' to become physically violent, including toward police, when arrests will take place.

 

In a speech to protesters on Oct. 28, Imam Adil Charkaoui, speaking Arabic, denounced "Zionist aggressors" and called on Allah to "kill the enemies of the people of Gaza and to spare none of them." X

 

Now, instead of using the laws prescribing acceptable social behaviour, a new anti-hate bill is being proposed, one that will remove a clause forgiving abusive activity if it is done in a spirit of 'sincere belief' in a religious context which would exonerate say, a Muslim who proclaims 'kill the Jews', because something in his sacred scripture allows that. The Canadian Council of Imams attended the last committee meeting discussing the amendment to the Criminal Code's religious defences for hate speech charges. They opposed the religious defences removal.

 

The proposed legislation seeks to make it an offence to intimidate or obstruct at places of worship. Presented by Justice Minister Sean Fraser, it proposes the criminalization of hate promotion through the display of symbols that have links to designated terror groups. The rise in police-reported antisemitic violence in the wake of the Israel-Hamas war has spurred Jewish advocacy groups to call for additional measures of protection for the Jewish-Canadian population. 

 

It was the Bloc Quebecois's proposal for the religious defences to be removed dealing with the 'wilful promotion of hate' and promotion of antisemitism, defined by the law as minimizing or denying the Holocaust, which states specifically that anyone in 'good faith' who expresses or communicates an opinion "on a religious subject or an opinion based on a belief in a religious text" not be convicted of hate speech. The Bloc has advocated for the religious exemptions to be removed from the Criminal Code.

Palestinians -- Victims of their Own Ineradicable Hatred

Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present  opening June 2026, Canadian Museum for Human Rights

 

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights has gone the way of all public institutions in Canada -- from the very Liberal-led government itself, to all its constituent arms of public service, from academia to unions, news media and museums throughout the country, to portray Palestinians as victims of a cruel apartheid occupation. Taking their cue from the United Nations which designated Palestinians and their offspring as perpetual refugees, the Palestinian narrative of victimhood has resonated in its pathos everywhere that kind hearts and malevolent sentiments fall victim themselves to an ongoing parody of human rights.

 

Arab Palestinians have from the very moment the United Nations announced its Partition Plan in 1947 refused the offer of a state of their own, just as they refused to acknowledge Israel's inherited ancestral right to accept that offer of two states side by side. With encouragement and incitement from the Arab world in the Middle East that refusal has lasted a lifetime and for generation after generation. Simply put all the countries of the Middle East, Islamic to the core, refused to tolerate the presence of a Jewish state in their midst, ancient and authentic as it is.

 

Bearing in mind that many Palestinians did not leave Israel, preferring to remain to this day where they have full citizenship, voting rights, occupy positions in the judiciary, in Israel's parliament, in the medical and law professions, making up 20 percent of the entire population. Circassians, Druze, Bedouin, Christians, Kurds, B'hai, and other minority groups are part of Israeli citizenry with full and equal rights. In contrast, no Jews are welcome in Palestinian areas of the West Bank or Gaza to the point of death. Palestinian leaders have over the years and continue to refuse to recognize Israel's right of existence.

 

Over the years countless opportunities arose for negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian authorities to reach an agreement for the side-by-side existence of two states; Israeli and Palestinians. While Israel has time and again made conciliatory concessions, the Palestinian side has made no concessions whatever. Instead Palestinian governments have incited their populations to hatred of Jews and Israel, infusing in them a raging will to violence, convinced that only by destroying Israel and taking possession of the entire geography will a Palestinian state be feasible. 

 

None of which makes them legitimate candidates for human rights victimhood to be forever memorialized in a museum whose function is to educate and highlight for the public at large authentic instances of human right abuses and the victims thereof. The new exhibit set to become permanent at the Museum for Human Rights in the spring of the coming year is entitled 'Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present'. Its purpose is to focus on the Palestinian 'experience' during the creation of Israel and the following Arab-Israeli war. 

 

The exhibit is an insult to reality and an assault on historical accuracy.

As for the estimated 750,000 Arab Palestinians who fled in anticipation of returning once the fledgling Jewish state was pummelled into nothingness by the combined Arab armies that marched to destroy it but failed, they have swelled in numbers to 6 million over the years, with their diaspora settling everywhere in the West engaged in slandering the State of Israel and infecting the minds of the populations wherever they settle against Jews, offering the poisoned chalice of antisemitism everywhere. 

 

And while the UN and popular opinion fixate on the 750,000 Arabs who fled with Israel's 1948 declaration of statehood, the 850,000 Jews that forcibly became refugees from Arab lands at Israel's reappearance are ignored.

Abandoning Israel and Acquiescing to Antisemitism

It took no time at all in the wake of the initial concern expressed by Israel's allies over the dread events of October 7, 2023 -- when thousands of Hamas-led Palestinian terrorists stormed across from Gaza into southern Israel to rape, maim and murder 1,200 Israeli infants, elderly, families, foreign farm workers and IDF members, taking 250 children, women and men hostage back to Gaza to be kept in inhumane conditions as barter for exchange of Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons -- for those allies to turn their backs on Israel. 

 

The kibbutzim that were raided and destroyed by the terrorists were peopled by Israelis who viewed Palestinians sympathetically and hired many at good wages for agricultural work. Their empathy was rewarded in barbaric savagery. The very Palestinians with whom Israelis had forged friendly relations, offering them employment hard to come by in Gaza were among those who helped the terror invaders with hand-drawn maps indicating where Kibbutz security could be found, and some among them accompanied the terrorists as ordinary Palestinian civilians advantaging themselves of the opportunities to loot and destroy.

That kind of betrayal of the goodwill that was given them was difficult to parse as that part of human nature that is more given to evil than to good. But it is the back-stabbing betrayal of those choosing to counter Israel's response to the horrors of October 7 through its determination to finally destroy the death cult representing Palestinian terrorism in the final realization that it could never be turned around and the necessity of defeating it militarily leading to the Israel Defense Forces hunting down of Hamas operatives shielding themselves from repercussions by melting into the densely populated cities of Gaza and the myriad tunnel system with its stores of weaponry.

 

While Israel faced added assaults from Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and the Islamic regime in Iran, added to the ongoing rocket attacks from Gaza -- defending itself on all fronts, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands critiqued what they characterized as 'group punishment' meted out to Palestinians in the Israeli military actions to root out the terrorists from among the civilians who gave those terrorists the supporting mandate for October 7's atrocities. 

On the streets of Europe and North America a staggering number of Palestinians, Muslim immigrants and hordes of non-Muslim unions, academics, university students and others rallied in support of Palestinian 'liberation' from 'occupation', championing Hamas as 'freedom fighters', and slandering Israel as 'oppressors' of Palestinians whose leaders at every junction, turned down the opportunities given them to bargain in good faith toward an agreement to recognize Israel and form an agreed-upon state of their own. While the world echoed 'two-state solution', Palestinians taunted 'From the river to the sea', 'global Intifada', and 'Final Solution!' alongside 'Jews go back to Poland'.

Condemning Israel for its purported 'disproportionate' response to an existential threat that Hamas promised to repeat unendingly, France, Canada and the United Kingdom signed a condemnatory statement denouncing Israel for its military action in Gaza, citing the Gaza Health Authority on the toll taken by the Palestinian population as unacceptable to their sense of moral sanctimony. All three have chosen to abandon their own Jewish citizens to the mobs that have howled after them, threatened them and committed unlawful acts that authorities refuse to put a stop to.

 

In Canada, former Liberal prime minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet chose to lend their support to the large and growing Muslim population in Canada unified against Israel in support of the Palestinian claim to Jewish ancestral land as their own, intolerably 'occupied' by Jews. The Trudeau Liberals chose to deviate from Canada's traditional firm alliance with Israel by voting against Israel in UN General Assembly sanctions against the Jewish state. When the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trudeau signalled he would be arrested if he came to Canada.

 

Antisemitism thrived and grew under the Liberal government, and it continues to under its newly-renewed mandate to continue governing under a new prime minister who appointed the same cabinet ministers to variant portfolios, all of whom have lost no time in repeating the slanders of the past against Israel, all of whom are content to allow unbridled chaos on the streets of Canadian cities as Palestinian-organized rallies harass Canadian Jews in front of their synagogues, community centres, old-age homes, parochial schools and residential communities.

Fred Hahn, CUPE Ontario: 'Harmful, Hurtful, Divisive Antisemitism

This was just the last post by labour leader Fred Hahn; many other postings that were clearly antisemitic predated the latest when he reposted a video to his Facebook account, showing an Olympic diver who happened to be Jewish, as a Star of David on his arm identified him, as he leaped from a diving board. Rather than a splash the video shows the diver transformed into a bomb, and what transpires is the aftermath scene of an airstrike.

These repeated and clear instances of antisemitism celebrating the man's hatred for all things Jewish and the State of Israel in particular, has garnered public attention and embarrassment for the largest public service union in Canada, has deeply offended its Jewish members, and given labour unions generally an aura of anti-Jewish sympathies which has insulted not only Jewish union members but many of their non-Jewish counterparts as well, who would much prefer their union to reflect union issues.

The very day that Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on October 7, Hahn lost no time tweeting: "Palestine is rising, long live the resistance." Which led 80 Jewish union members to take Hahn and CUPE     Ontario to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal with the message that they feel "Isolated, unwelcome, scared, silenced, discriminated against, threatened and harassed" by their union's response to the October 7 attack.

Re-elected in May as CUPE Ontario president to two more years in office, Hahn is as well executive vice-president of the Ontario Federation of Labour and a general vice-president for CUPE National. Which has finally responded to the furor of this man's sentiments and obvious display of Jew-hatred, by informing him he is expected to resign his position.

 

Hahn's response is that the union needs him, and he has no intention of voluntarily resigning. Leaving ample room for the union's executive body to remove him involuntarily, a disgrace to labour and the  union movement, flagrantly displaying his personal animosity to a Canadian minority group, cloaking it in the flimsy garment of 'humanitarian support' for Palestinians in Gaza, where his personal sentiment has slopped over into a labour union meant to focus on worker support.

Slandering Israel of "Catastrophic Palestinian Starvation"

The arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court naming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing both of leveraging the "starvation of civilians as a method of war", levied in May, based its warrants on the warnings issued by the IPC's early reports and those of the UN's World Food Program, both warning that northern Gaza was under a "full-blown famine" in May. Just as the IPC's and UN's warnings were without credibility, so too the ICC's warrants.

Aided and abetted by international media which themselves relied on IPC projections in reporting the conflict, the allegations of war crimes committed by Israel at war with Hamas, gave credence to the public relations campaigns vilifying Israel on behalf of the Hamas propaganda machinery, while selectively bypassing Israel's assurances of efforts during an intense time of conflict, of making every effort to alleviate the food insecurity of ordinary Palestinians.

While Israel opened corridors with the full knowledge that in so doing, it ran the risk of assisting Hamas leadership and operatives escaping the consequences of the atrocities they committed in southern Israel. In the same token, while Israel was doing its utmost to still international criticism holding Israel to standards never imposed upon other countries forced to defend themselves from gratuitously savage violence, the world looked the other way when evidence arose of Hamas looting humanitarian food and goods convoys meant to sustain Palestinian civilians.

After months of dire warnings of "famine is imminent" in the Gaza Strip, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification released a snapshot report published on June 25. Funded by a number of Western countries such as Canada, the European Union and he United States the new report explains that its revision was occasioned partially from earlier reliance on "assumptions and inference" to "address major gaps in publicly accessible evidence". 

The report's conclusions inspired David Adesnik of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies to characterize the IPC's admission of errors as "one of the greatest slanders of the last eight months", obliquely referencing the beginning of conflict in October stemming from the Hamas invasion of Israel and revelations of the terrorist group's inhumane indulgence in sadistic savagery of horrific proportions that included group rape, mutilation and bloody mass slaughter.

On The Wrong Side Of Woke

University of Guelph-Humber marketing instructor Paul Finlayson has been suspended pending an investigation into a social media post supporting Israel and denouncing Hamas

 

Lawyer Marshall wrote to Guelph-Humber University's manager of human rights, harassment and employment equity in January on behalf of her client in an attempt to resolve a situation that has left the 59-year-old university lecturer suspended with pay from his teaching employment at the university. Her client, she reminded him, awaits information respecting the complaint lodged against him but no one had yet contacted him. She, like her client before her, received no response.

Her letter emphasized that there is no reason that adjunct Professor Finlayson should be suspended while an investigation was ongoing. The conduct for which he gained the suspension took place outside the university, and her client poses no threat to anyone. His sin was his outraged response to another academic living in Pakistan who had expressed  his support for Hamas and Palestinians, which Professor Finlayson strenuously disagreed with, pointing out that Hamas terrorists set out to rape and murder innocent civilians.

He has been left in limbo; several complaints had been made to the university for his having had expressed his empathy with Israel's plight brought on by the Palestinian terrorist group that ruled Gaza. Whose operatives had created a hell on Earth for a civilian population living in towns and kibbutzim near the Gaza border, and who in fact had sympathized with Gaza's Palestinian population, going out of their way to be of assistance to them, and hiring many as farm labourers. Hires many of whom had briefed Hamas on locales and area situations.

His expressions however, earned  him a suspension and it has been two months that he has been awaiting results of an 'investigation'. In the absence of any move to inform him of a decision that might return him to his lecturing position at the university, despite his course lectures for the semester having been cancelled by the university. His lawyers have advised him to appeal to the Ontario Human Rights Commission. 

Several students appear to have taken umbrage over his outburst at the Pakistani academic's sentiments. And there was also a Canadian academic who had complained. That academic has been identified as Dr. Wael Ramadan, professor of project management at the Pilon School of Business at Sheridan College. Professor Ramadan's own sentiments are in stark opposition to those of Professor Finlayson, unsurprisingly. He has written of Israel as "an apartheid state committing genocide".

Professor Ramadan has a Twitter account with a small number of followers. He posts savagely slanderous and obviously false allegations about the activities of Israel and the Israel Defense Forces in the Palestinian Territories and more specifically in Gaza where according to his world view Israel has been busy committing genocide. Sheridan College has taken no steps whatever to relieve Professor Ramadan of his professional academic presence nor to penalize him in any way for his egregious statements.

But Professor Ramadan feels himself justified in inciting hatred and violence against Israel and Jews, and feels he is entitled to do so without repercussions. He also appears to be of the opinion that Professor Finlayson's fairly tame expressions have earned him censure and uncertainty of his future that could very well result in the loss of his employment at Guelph-Humber University. 

 

Such are the vagaries of cringing academic institutions under pressure by conveyors of Critical Race Theory, Wokeism and the virtues of DEI theology. 

Inflaming Hatred Against Jews : Inciting Violence Against Israel

Gal Gadot's anodyne and sincere thoughts posted on her Instagram account appears to have incited a tsunami of repressed Jew-hatred, where a segment of the population on social media having assimilated propaganda launched by consummate masters of social-political influencing have succeeded in persuading huge swaths of the public -- gullible in their lack of interest much less knowledge about the history that makes up the Israel-Palestinian interface and wanting to be part of a 'social cause' have taken up the human-rights cudgel against what they are told are the 'aggressors' against a helpless, victimized people.

So much hate flooded this Israeli woman's Instagram account that she was forced to disable the replies function of her Instagram post. Gadot, tweeted Mia Khalifa, Lebanese-American former adult film actress, was a "Genocide Barbie". Again, accusations of genocide thrown at Jewish symbols of public acclaim, painting Jews who suffered the horrendous 20th Century genocide of the Holocaust as themselves genocidal against Palestinians.

Judean land, identified by the Romans who occupied the area, as Palestine. Palestinian Jews. Not the latecoming Egyptian and Syrian Arabs who migrated into 'Palestine" in search of opportunities, colonizing land that many of the original occupants -- Jews -- never left. Appropriating the name Palestinian, and the land as their own.

And as the flavour of the day in 'woke' social media parlance, Gal Gadot's name began "trending" on Twitter. American journalist Ben Jacobs spoke of it as "an interesting euphemism on Twitter's part for being bombarded with vile and anti-Semitic attacks online". That, of course, is the perspective of the assaulted, not the smug satisfaction of the assaulters who were quite content to send hate messages to "Genocide Barbie".

@impact is an Instagram account set up to share "digestible & socially impactful content" with its 1.6 million followers, posting screenshots of tweets announcing: "we remain far from justice", and the fight to "save Palestine" must continue. Instagram, Tik-Tok and Tumblr have given social media the stick it values with which to bludgeon those that the woke social scene identifies as 'racist' and 'anti-human-rights' and that is the niche that Israel and Jews have been plugged into.

Claims posted cannot be verified as having any resemblance to fact or the truth, but those claims are absorbed and regurgitated with alarming regularity; dishonourable, damaging, and damned, the claims resonate with the passion of those eager to belong to groups with a social cause, and this is the season for 'Palestinian rights', damning the 'Israeli occupation' that is 'murdering' Palestinian children. The terrorist group Hamas has acquired the sweet flavour of daunting righteous champions of the defenceless.

Their terrorism along with other Palestinian 'activist' groups like Islamic Jihad and the Palestine Liberation Organization transforms them in sympathetic minds from terrorists who lob missiles and rockets into civilian enclaves for the express purpose of killing Jews, to 'fighters' for justice and liberation of the Palestinian Territories. That such 'liberation' would comprise the end of Israel is of great disinterest although the charters of those terrorist groups spell out their purpose: to destroy Israel.

Communications professor Gabriel Weimann at the University of Haifa, explains: "Since no one controls, regulates or checks these videos [portraying Israel as a state-aggressor of Palestinians out to destroy Palestinian aspirations of statehood while just for fun killing Palestinian children], you can post whatever you want. There are a lot of lies". 

Pakistani film star Veena Malik tweeted, ostensibly quoting Adolf Hitler: "I would have killed all the Jews of the world ... but I kept some to show the world why I killed them". Twitter, evidently, was oblivious to the presence on its platform of that delightful little quasi-quote. Its claims to restrict hate speech? well, awkward, isn't it?

Over 625 million views have been logged on TikTok of videos under the hashtag #SaveSheikhJarrah, the mostly Muslim/Arab neighbourhood in East Jerusalem where a long-standing dispute between Jews and Arabs -- where under illegal Jordanian rule long-time resident Jews were violently expelled -- over property rights ignored a mass protest led by Arab youth around the Al-Aqsa mosque, throwing rocks and inflammatory devices at Israeli police trying to maintain order on the disputed platform.

With 41.7 million Instagram followers, American-Palestinian Bella Hadid whose father is a Palestinian from Gaza, posted a video that announces "73 years of the ethnic cleansing of Palestine". The posts lean heavily on language emphasizing time and again the poisonous slander that Israel is responsible for "ethnic cleansing" against Palestinians. Despite that 21 percent of the Israeli citizenry is Palestinian with equal rights to any other minority group in the country, much less the Jewish majority.

"How to be an ally with the Palestinians" is a post  first seen on an Instagram account named Paliroots, informing people to use terms like "apartheid" and "colonialism" and "ethnic cleansing", instead of "eviction", "conflict" or "war", urging people to join a boycott, divestment and sanction movement against the Jewish state.

"Before you post about Israel-Palestine, take a break and ask yourself: Will this statement move us closer to peace?" offers Israeli writer Hen Mazig, who has been posting infographics to his 43,000 Instagram followers.
