Overnight Thursday the Montreal office of Immigration Minister Marc Miller was vandalized, according to police. "Marc Miller Child Killer" was spray painted across the building's exterior, the office windows were smashed and pink paint sloshed on the front of the building. Calling the vandalizing a "criminal act" on social media, Miller said his office had been "daily" threatened for months. "This was no longer a peaceful demonstration."

 

It didn't take long for anti-Israel protesters to proudly take responsibility on Instagram and Twitter for the act. The action, said an Instagram post is "a reminder that the mobilizations will not end and that we will not give in to the genocidal state". 

 

Police are determining whether the office was equipped with an alarm system and if it was, why no alert had been received at 911 central. Police were informed of the incident when a passerby called 911 to report the damage. Police spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier confirmed that the interior damage was severe. Nearby surveillance cameras are to be examined for clues on the unfolding of the incident.

Coincidentally Marco Mendicino, former public safety minister, has been calling for the creation of "protective zones" around political constituency offices to shield staff and members of Parliament from a rising tide of threatening incidents. Under the plan anyone who intimidates or harasses people would be subject to harsher criminal penalties, up to jail time.

Several Members of Parliament from various parties have had their constituency offices targeted in the last few years. Graffiti spray-painted on the exterior and rocks tossed through windows. Mr. Mendicino received "a barrage of death threats", his family also has been targeted. As he walked to his office one day, a man spat on him When booking appointments with members of the public, he and his constituency staff are more now prudent, sparing more effort to screening.

It is these MPs' own government that has been the source of the problem, in failing to properly vet those they appoint to critical human rights positions. As long as the anti-Israel, pro-Hamas 'protesters' targeted Jews, Liberal Members of Parliament were disinterested in pursuing any avenues of responding to the threats they faced. Now that they are themselves becoming targets it suddenly becomes a matter of great importance to provide them with protection.

Jewish shop owners, Jewish children attending parochial school, Jews attending synagogue to worship or community centres were harassed and threatened by the presence of these 'protesters'. Encampments set up at university campuses sought to exclude Jewish students from their classes, Jewish faculty members from their lectures, all the while slandering Jews and Israel, calling for a global Intifada, for a 'final solution' to the 'Jewish problem'. And no level of government intervened.

That permissiveness emboldened the 'protesters' who claimed it their constitutional right to free speech when they blocked roads, entrances to hospitals, invaded municipal buildings, demanded that schools and local officials denounce Israel. By doing nothing to protect the Jewish public, officials who shrugged and turned away, lent practical support to the pro-Hamas gangs that disrupted social life and engaged in active antisemitism.

Global Affairs Canada, like all government of Canada arms and contacts, uses the Hamas propaganda tactic of referring to Palestinian Gazan 'women and children', as collateral damage related to Israel's military invasion of the Gaza Strip following the terrorist group that represents the 'government' in Gaza having inflicted upon Israeli women and children among others the most barbaric savagery, utterly incomprehensible to normal humans. But citing the plight of 'women and children' never fails to elicit compassion, to the extent that the events of October 7 fall readily into background white noise.

 

It has been well illustrated and documented that ample humanitarian aid has been organized and has entered Gaza; enough food and medical supplies to supply the daily living needs of Palestinian civilians caught in a conflict their leaders mounted against Israel, and with the full knowledge that the consequences would endanger their own civilian population in Gaza. A 'sacrifice' of Palestinian lives that Hamas has been all too satisfied to offer up, informing its population that their role is one of martyrdom for the Hamas 'cause'.

By and large that civilian population by a wide margin appears to accept their role in the sense that a large percentage of the population continues to support Hamas, and support as well the October 7 death of over a thousand civilians like themselves who, as Jews, had no wish to be martyred, nor did the women and girls deserve to be tortured and mass raped before being murdered. In supporting Hamas it would seem that Palestinians see nothing wrong in taking children and women and the elderly hostage to Gaza -- the wild celebrations at the presence of these hostages testament enough to that.

 

The countless truckloads of humanitarian supplies entering Gaza, as a lifeline to suffering Palestinian civilians unfortunately is not distributed adequately. Hamas operatives 'take charge' and coordinate distribution by coopting the deliveries and redirecting them in large part to their own operations. A large portion of the food provided by the compassionate West and through the UN's food distribution system can be found in markets in Gaza, available for sale to Palestinians at inflated prices; evidently those in favour with Hamas become part of the 'distribution' system.

Now, far from the Middle East, in Canada, the diaspora as it has been in many other countries, feel the pain of October 7, their intimate family losses and they have in their outrage over the unprincipled actions and determinations of their government -- that of the Liberal 'progressives' led by prime minister Justin Trudeau -- decided to sue over the decision to resume the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East charitable funding. This, despite recognition of UNRWA's role in the October 7 bloodbath in Israel.

The "history and participation with Hamas" of UNRWA has been recognized, proven, and documented. Notice of the lawsuit by Canadian families impacted by the deadly horrors of October 7, alongside the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs has been given public attention. The suit seeks an order to reverse the Canadian government's decision to resume its temporarily 'paused' funding of UNRWA, arguing that Hamas co-locates its terror infrastructure with UNRWA facilities. 

 

That UNRWA schools teach Palestinian children to hate and glory in the death of Jews, and to aspire themselves to become martyrs in the carrying-out of lethal attacks against Jews, has been well proven.

 That UNRWA staff took part in the October  massacre in southern Israel is also noted in the suit. Through funding of UNRWA, the current government of Canada voluntarily funds terror, and becomes complicit in such sadistic savagery against Israel and its population.

 

Evidence of UNRWA employees participating in murder and kidnapping on October 7 was readily available and conveyed by CIJA to Global Affairs to ensure they knew what it was they were funding. And that hundreds of UNRWA employees, are members of Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups whose mandate is to destroy Israel and murder Jews. Family members of young men and women who were massacred on October 7 are part of the lawsuit. Canada had paused funding for UNRWA following Israel's revelations backed by evidence that United Nations employees took part in the October 7 attacks.

The decision was reversed by the Liberal government to ensure that Canada's pledges for multiple millions would continue to flow to UNRWA. The suit claimants' application states that the decision to resume funding is "unreasonable in light of UNRWA's history and participation with Hamas, a listed terrorist entity pursuant to Criminal Code Section  83.05", accusing the government of failure to comply with a number of statutory duties.

Playing The Racism Card In Expansive Vitriol

As the days go by since it was first revealed that government auspices and taxpayer funding have gone out to one of the most outspoken racists in Canada -- on a contract signed between Diversity and Inclusion Minister Ahmed Hussen and the Community Media Advocacy Centre's 'chief consultant' Laith Marouf, to hold cross-Canada seminars instructing broadcasters and news media how best to address issues plaguing the country, of racism and institutionalized discrimination -- more details are emerging.

Palestinian-Syrian Laith Marouf was a practised racist from his university days when he promoted BDS and staged protests against Jewish or Israeli speakers invited by campus groups to address university students. His scrawling of antisemitic and anti-Israel racist slurs on university property saw him forbidden access to university property. That he also wrote scathing slanders about Aboriginal, Black and French citizens demonstrated the wide stretch of those he maligned, but his main focus was always on the denigration of Jews.

His activities and his statements were prominent enough and sufficiently frequent that anyone in public office doing even a casual background search before committing to hiring him as a consultant or in any other public capacity would have immediately come across the negative consequences of any alliance with the man. Which hasn't seemed to be an impediment to government departments searching out a potential source to augment government programs on inclusion, diversity and anti-racism.

Yet the ministers responsible in this recently-divulged imbroglio had no inkling whatever who and what they were dealing with; no idea that the man and the group he represented were one and the same, no idea that the venomous tripe he disgorged was incendiary hate. Former Member of Parliament Michael Levitt, once in Justin Trudeau's Liberal caucus wrote: 

"Looking back on events over the last week [with] regards to Marouf affair, I'm utterly disheartened. Taking a stand against antisemitism should be a given [and] yet so few of my former Liberal colleagues have done so."

It is both inexplicable and incredible that a seasoned hater, who when he was granted citizenship in 2020 posted a slam against "Apartheid Canada" for having taken too long to process his application for citizenship, was never identified as someone whose worldview and specific hatreds in an ongoing campaign of vilification of minorities and Jews in particular would never be tagged as unsuitable for Canadian citizenship.

It seems fairly inconsequential in funding dollars that his latest contract amounted to $133,000 to partner with the government of Canada in fighting ethnic and religious biases in media coverage. But it was the imprimatur of the Canadian government that gained this man and his group legitimacy of official recognition that went  beyond the value of mere dollars. But wait: these were not the only government departments that saw fit to do business with this reprehensible bigot.

Mark Goldberg, a telecommunications consultant who had long followed the affairs of this man revealed that federal records indicate CMAC/Marouf collected $537,480 in contract revenues from the Broadcast Participation Fund between 2016 and 2021. Minister Hussen, who had praised Marouf several months back with the signing of the contract, more latterly called on CMAC to explain how they could have hired someone of his ilk as their primary (and only) consultant, an "antisemetic" and "xenophobic" figure.

Representing the Montreal area, Liberal MP Anthony Housefather revealed that Minister Hussen had dismissed his own earlier warnings and cautionary advice about the quality of Marouf's character. A day ago MP Housefather called on "all 338 Members of Parliament" to condemn the "antisemitism  and hate expressed by Marouf". University of Ottawa professor Michael Geist remarked on how strangely silent the federal government is on the affair.

With the revelation of Marouf's hateful remarks about French Canadians, their intelligence quotient and their language, a stir has arisen from that source that doesn't appreciate being named as 'frogs'. To which Marouf wrote in response: "It is astounding how easy it has been for the pro-Israeli lobby to whip the racist media in Quebec into a frenzy against a Palestinian Arab man".
