Confronting Allies and Enemies At The United Nations

Isolated, friendless, it takes nerves of steel and a steely determination to shunt that aside and confront those who, by failing to stand with a country that has for the entire time of its existence been pilloried in public opinion, militarily attacked by its neighbours, suffered a slanderous public relations campaign to delegitimize its legacy and its presence in the Middle East, contended with constant lethal violence committed by terrorist groups whose sole purpose is to destroy the Jewish state, yet calmly, dispassionately and searingly make the point that Israel will nonetheless prevail.

 

Israel's longtime Prime Minister stood before the General Assembly of the United Nations not only to defend itself against malodorous accusations of genocide and apartheid, but to flagellate the inconstancy of those who have posed as allies of the tiny state, as a fellow democracy, trading partner and reliable intelligence source in a world increasingly pummeled by rogue state actors. Allies, many of which have decided in their perfidious worldview of 'progressive' liberalism that the originators of terror and violence against Israel and Jews are, as they claim, the victims, and Israel their oppressor.

 

It is unseemly for a Jewish state in defense of its people, their safety, security and future, to take up arms against those who seek to destroy it. The very nations who would themselves move heaven and earth to destroy the violent threats to themselves by full military responses unforgiving of the welfare of the population from whence the threat emanates, fully expects Israel to stand back and patiently await the next round of sadistic savagery certain to arise from terrorists who openly declare their intention to strike again and again and again.

Israel's invasion in Gaza has the intention to ensure that the terrorist group Hamas that has ruled the Palestinian territory for 17 years will never again have the opportunity to repeat the horrors of October 7, 2023. That intention relates to the utter destruction of Hamas, its leadership, operatives, weapons depots, infrastructure, headquarters, launch sites and network of tunnels. The Israel Defense Forces operate as a model of military discipline, capable and employing intelligence enabling it to fire precise missiles for the distinct purpose of eliminating threats from terrorism, while still mindful of minimizing civilian deaths.

 

No mean feat when fighting a terrorist mentality that sees its own civilian population as living shields for the protection of the terrorist structure. The propaganda arm of Hamas has been on overdrive, celebrating the 'martyrdom' of its civilian population as a prop in convincing the international community that Israel's objective is the annihilation of Palestinians in their entirety. Ages-old distrust of the global Jewish community, both the diaspora and now the state that defends the historical dispersed has erupted in an orgy of viral antisemitism.

 

The general membership's diplomacy of the United Nations exercised their sanctimony in an exercise of moral debasement to walk out of the chamber where the Israeli Prime Minister spoke rather than remain even as a diplomatic courtesy practised in a civilized manner respectful of the opportunity to hear out the reason and logic behind an embattled nation's response to an existential threat it has lived with for most of its existence, culminating in the most recent assault of monumental barbarity.

 

"We will not commit national suicide because  you don't have the guts to face down a hostile media and antisemitic mobs demanding Israel's blood", Netanyahu confronted his detractors. Israel's intention is to continue the war in Gaza until Hamas is no more. Recognizing Palestinian statehood, when its leaders continue to deny Israel's right of existence, when its leaders continue to incite to violence against Israel, when its leaders give financial rewards to those who attack and murder Jews, when its leaders teach its younger generation through school curricula, plays, television programs, poetry and music to hate Jews and aspire to become 'martyrs' against the Jewish state's existence, translates to awarding terrorism its goal.

Dr. Kedar is a senior research associate at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, an expert on Islamist groups and Middle East affairs, vice-president of Newsrael's Middle East affairs news site. His academic studies and experiences equip him with special insider views of the Middle East, Israel and Palestinians equal to none. He served in the Israel Defense Forces intelligence for 25 years, specializing in Arab political discourse and media and Islamic groups. His specialty in the media is providing analyses and commentary on affairs in the Middle East.

And his interpretation of recent events is that Hamas leaders took an initiative whose purpose and shock value  undermined a scheme by the Islamic Republic of Iran to mount a mass attack against Israel from Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Gaza that would result in tens of thousands of missiles lobbed into the Jewish State, with combat units from Syria, Yemen, Iraq sending missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles while Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad did their part, firing missiles in such numbers as to completely overwhelm Israel's Iron Dome.

Destruction in the Jewish state was meant to be complete and irrevocable; roads, electricity, communications systems, army bases, airports completely destroyed in a doomsday scenario that was planned but aborted, thanks to Hamas's precipitate action that unravelled the larger, more methodical and existentially devastating plans of their Islamist Shiite patron. The long-planned Hamas invasion proved irresistible to the terrorist group, evidently unwilling to await the order from Iran for a coordinated attack.

They were inspired by the boycott of training by 200 Israeli F-15 pilots protesting proposed judicial reforms in March of 2023. Infighting and mass demonstrations that "destroyed the image of Israel as a powerful country" with an indefatigable, precision-trained and primed-for-victory military. That fissure in Israeli society signalled weakness to Hamas leaders, eager to take advantage of what they saw as an opportunity to unilaterally destroy Israeli morale, resolve and effectiveness.

The Nova Music Festival was an event that hosted hordes of young Israelis, a ripe platform for a mass slaughter and group rape scenario, proving irresistible to the leadership which planned to unleash the command performance for which Hamas operatives had undergone training rehearsals for months to fulfill at last the guiding principle of their charter to destroy Israel and murder its Jewish population. The impending agreement between  Israel and Saudi Arabia for 'normalization' impelled Hamas in its decision, as well.

Dr. Kedar envisioned a domino effect of peace agreements where Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mauritania, Tunisia, Mali, Chad and Niger would have been amenable to joining the Abrahamic Accords for what such an alliance would promise to their economic development and relations with the United States: "Mainly because of the American goodies".

Such accommodation with Israel by Muslim states would have the effect of sidelining the cause of the Palestinians and as such would have been completely untenable, hastening the Hamas decision-making. Aside from which there was the anticipation that hundreds of Israelis taken hostage would be exchanged for infinitely greater numbers of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. The aftermath of the October 7 atrocities appear to have been of little immediate concern in the lead-up to the Hamas invasion of southern Israel.

The Qur'an, Dr. Kedar reminded his Toronto audience -- attending the Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation Toronto Zionist Council and Canadians for Israel's Legal Rights -- teaches the faithful of the praiseworthiness of dying for Israel. Dr. Kedar has arrived at what he feels is a solution to the conundrum -- what to do with the Palestinian Territories following the completion of the war. His proposal is that Gaza and the Palestinian Authority be split along clan lines; each to be administered by their own communities.

Clans are embedded into Arab culture and conflict between clans is endemic to the culture. "It fits the culture of the Middle East, because it fits the clan mentality", he states, as geographic splits by clan communities would have the effect of averting conflicts between other clans and by extension, Israel. Failing Arab states such as Syria, Libya, Lebanon Iraq, and Iran host various clans who clamour for their equal rights. Successful states such as Qatar, the Emirates, Kuwait, have economic stability,  safety, law and order. And they are operated by clans. 

"Every clan sees the other clan as the enemy because they are 'not from us'." Prejudice and discrimination is regionally rampant. Gaza has been split into five administrative districts for the past eight decades. Without much clan overlap, Dr. Kedar's vision is to allow Gazan clans to operate their own affairs. "This could very well work with no Hamas, which no one wants. Otherwise a Palestinian state could very well turn into another Hamastan."

It is well enough known that the terrorist Palestinian group Hamas which governs Gaza orchestrated a savagely sadistic day of slaughter in southern Israel on October 7, when its operatives flooded into Israel at the Gaza border to begin a massacre of Israeli civilians, mass rape of girls and women, killing of infants and children in a sadistic orgy of psychopathic hatred. Then it was revealed unsurprisingly, that Palestinian Islamic Jihad was also involved.

And finally came the realization of ordinary Palestinian civilians opportuning themselves by following the terrorists into the breaches of the separating walls at the border to commit their own atrocities on Jewish families in the border towns, villages and kibbutzim. While Israel has been induced to commit to a temporary ceasefire in the hopes of having at the very least women and child hostages returned to Israel, the plight of a ten-month-old baby, his 4-year-old sibling and their mother gripped the nation.

The three  were to have been returned to Israel in an exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. Hamas informed Israel they were unable to locate the three. They followed that up with saying they were in the hands of another terror group. And finally, that they were dead. That other group was the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, notorious decades ago for its plane hijacking and murders of Jews. The family, it appeared, died at their hands. Their father, taken hostage separately, was forced to watch a video of his family's death.

Finally, Hamas refused to release any more of the Israeli women, some ten in number along with several children. Speculation is that they are either dead or close to death; the terrorists gang-raped women to death, breaking the pelvic bones of some and others taken hostage for use as 'sex slaves'. None of this happened, however, according to Palestinians in Canada, organizing mass protests in the streets of Canadian cities, accusing Israel of genocide and celebrating the courage of Hamas and others.

Now it has been revealed that affiliates of the PLFP have been directly involved in many "ceasefire" and "stop the genocide" mass rallies clogging Canadian streets. Bearing in mind that Hamas, PIJ and PLFP are listed terrorist groups in Canada. The Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network headquartered in Vancouver and founded by Khaled Barakat, a leader in the PFLP's Central Committee has been actively arranging protests. 

Germany, following Israel's example, listed Samidoun as a terrorist entity amidst a nationwide crackdown on 'pro-Hamas' organizations. German Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser spoke of Samidoun as having an "antisemitic, inhuman world view, particularly repugnant". Yet in Canada the group has achieved federal non-profit status as a charity. In May they posted images of protesters in Vancouver there to affirm "the right of Palestinians to carry out popular and armed struggle to liberate Palestine from the river to the sea".

It has also been busy as a key organizer of Canadian anti-Israel rallies following the very first hours after the October 7 attacks. Former B.C. Civil Liberties Association head Harsha Walia praised the "Palestinians on hang-gliders" responsible for the massacre of over 200 young people attending a musical festival close to the Gaza border, in Israel. Other groups have been organizing waves of "ceasefire" and "stop the genocide" mass rallies.

Social media channels have been rife  with such groups posting open praise for terrorism in the months leading up to October 7, followed by ecstatic celebrations as the initial details of the massacres reached the public. A frequent organizer in the Greater Toronto Area, Toronto4Palestine hailed news of the October 7 terror attacks as acts of "heroic resistance", that "has shaped a new precedent for our national liberation struggle".

And the Palestinian Youth Movement ranks as the most influentially busy of the groups in organizing events publicized as "ceasefire" or "peace" rallies, while at the very same time the group has openly supported Palestinian terrorism; their ultimate goal to see Israel violently destroyed; a carbon copy of the Hamas manifesto of its reason for existence as a death cult.

And the federal government in Ottawa, of Justin Trudeau? Well it hesitates to 'take sides', deploring the horrific atrocities committed by Palestinians against Israeli Jews, while at the same time warning Israel that its response to the constant threats, attacks and this final barbaric episode, must be measured, that the lives of Palestinians must be held as sacrosanct as those of Jews were not.

So no action to stop the constant rallies in support of Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups which fly the flags of fascist terror groups outlawed in Canada (wink-wink), for fear of alienating a large voting bloc. In view of which, Canadians will perhaps eventually get around to asking themselves and then posing the question to their government:  

Why has Canada permitted the importation into the country of people as immigrants, migrants and refugees who bring with them these hateful ideologies, and why are they allowed to air them so aggressively in public?

Oh, right, I plumb forgot! A majority of Canadians has expressed -- through several nationwide polls -- their extreme concerns over the situation of citizens, presuming to be Canadian and expressing and acting on these issues in a morally indefensible way, not reflective of the general Canadian feelings that there are indeed two sides; one a nation of democratic values that upholds universal laws of justice, the other an uncivilized, barbaric rabble for whom crimes against humanity is just business as usual.

Minister Blair is the sole cabinet minister in Canada's Liberal government to state that the terrorist group Hamas must be "eliminated". Hamas has been listed as a terrorist entity in Canada for years. Despite this, since the Hamas violent incursion into Israel and its attacks on border villages and kibbutzim that took 1,400 lives, with countless others injured, and well over 200 infants, teens, seniors, women and soldiers taken hostage, huge groups of 'pro-Palestinian' celebrants have publicly praised Hamas, raising its flag in Canadian cities.

 

Clear manifestations of hatred accompanied by shouts of "kill the Jews", "gas the Jews" and "Palestine will be free", rend the air, yet the federal government has done absolutely nothing to stop these events. And nor would Prime Minister Justin Trudeau state his agreement that Hamas must be destroyed. He noted, rather, that Canada has long considered Hamas as a terrorist organization. 

On October 21, Canada's prime minister visited a mosque to later express his opinion that "As members of the Palestinian, Arab and Black Muslim communities gathered for prayer yesterday, I wanted them to know this: We know you're worried and hurting. We're here for you. We will not stop advocating for civilians to be protected and for international law to be upheld".

Defence Minister Blair on the other hand, dismissed growing calls from within his own Liberal caucus, for an Israel-Hamas ceasefire. Two dozen Liberal Members of Parliament co-signed a letter along with NDP and Green MPs calling on Canada to join international calls for an "immediate ceasefire". What those international calls are comprised of, wasn't made clear, but none of Canada's collegial Western partners have called for anything similar to an 'immediate ceasefire'.

On the other hand, opposition Conservatives and a handful of Liberals maintain that Israel has the right to defend itself after the October 7 terrorist attack that revealed the unbelievable extent of Hamas's contempt for human life. In itself recording the atrocities they committed, leaving those who have viewed the videos aghast at the unimaginable brutality they proved capable of committing. No one was immune from a grotesque death, often after having been mutilated. Brutal gang rapes and wanton slaughter the Hamas perpetrators were proud of.

Many of the Members of Parliament stated that Hamas must be destroyed before the possibility of a regional ceasefire can be contemplated in the realization that a pause in hostilities before the complete extirpation of the Hamas apparatus and its operatives, will only allow the terrorist organization to regroup and repeat its threat to Israeli existence.

In the 1990s when it seemed that a peace agreement between Israel and Palestinians could be achievable, Hamas pursued violence as the method of liberating Palestinian territories which included the land that Israel sits on rather than have an independent Palestine emerge and a situation leading to both it and Israel sharing land both lay claim to in what was being touted as the "two-state" solution. No one any longer believes in the feasibility of the 'two-state' solution; neither Israelis nor Palestinians, only those in the West.
