A Shadow on His Legacy

Cerebral functioning of theoretical brilliance, a brain encased in a body that has succumbed to a slow decay. But while the brain can function at a genius level in deciphering science and nature and the world of both that surrounds us, the animal portion of that brain is representative of a rather pathetic human being. His personal, intimate relationships have been mired in the essence of dysfunction. Is there anything more basic than raw human emotion that betrays trust?

Much is forgiven world figures who ascend to the heavens in their capacity to imagine, to create, to become legends in their ability to attain and explain details implausible and impossible for ordinary minds to conceive and understand. From the brilliance of writers who leave a lasting legacy of literature but whose personal lives were in shreds of licentious misery, to philosophers capable of explaining our emotional travails, but victims themselves of emotional instability.

And then there is Stephen Hawking, the author of the most brilliant, most published, most unread theoretical explanation of existence, whose level of expertise in theoretical physics is unmatched in our age. Lending his fame to an unworthy cause resulting in the delegitimization of an entire society and culture, religion and heritage that he has decided to spurn on the slightest of intellectual pretenses.

A decision to accept and honour the pressure tactics of a cadre of political blackmailers whose trump card is self-imposed victimization.

For that slight campaign slurring a country of scientific and scholarly achievers unparalleled elsewhere in the world, the world's most brilliant theoretician has traded his own indebtedness to the universality and respect for the trade and exchange in scientific achievement and philosophical debate to the debased and consummately corrupt design meant to isolate and shame his intellectual, scientific peers who happen to be Israeli.

Some claim to succumb to the blandishments of slander and boycott as a symbol of exerting the courage of their convictions. There can never be an acceptable reason to indulge in taking political 'sides', condemning one against another on the basis of a tarnishing of the reputations of those imputed to have abridged the human rights of others by reciprocating in kind.

In so doing, lending his own reputation and influence to a cause he little understands, one that exemplifies in its practise and tradition through its societal norms, a brutality of vision and a coarseness of humanity toward those afflicted by human disablement of mind and body, a willingness to destroy what they cannot control, an eagerness to wage violence against others rather than debate issues of contention.

A sad and sorry, sordid and miserable choice of a mind conflicted by its own issues of moral uncertainty.  In the pursuit of which he besmirches his very own humanity. This, A Brief History of Stephen Hawking.
