This is a blog dedicated to a personal interpretation of political news of the day. I attempt to be as knowledgeable as possible before commenting and committing my thoughts to a day's communication.

He Was Just Kidding, Folks

There we have it, yet another of the three co-conspirators so recently arrested and placed within the safety of prison walls, has been released on bail. All they planned to do, after all, was wreak havoc and terror in the country while slaughtering as many people as possible. No need to over-react.

They're all good, clean hyphenated Canadians. Born/immigrated and educated in Canada, they acquired excellent academic credentials.

It is merely incidental that they felt attracted to jihad. And in their zeal to prove to themselves that they made excellent jihadi material, consulted and planned and shared a dream of martyrdom. Most unfortunate that Canada's security and policing agencies found reason to suspect they were up to no good, keeping them under surveillance until the time seemed ripe to draw attention to Misbahuddin Ahmed, Hiva Alizadeh and Khurram Syed Sher.

All three of whom were swooped up and charged, and handily incarcerated. And didn't the news media have a field day with the news of yet another 'home-grown' terror cell having been uncovered... And didn't they dredge up damning background information on their own, with which to titillate the public, eager for details.

But this is Canada, and the justice system in this country is weighted in favour of malefactors who cannot be judged to be guilty of any crimes before a trial has been undertaken and its findings determined. Until such time, each of the accused is "alleged" to have committed to religion-based destructive violence in response to the West's 'Islamophobia'.

So, out with them, it's the humane, just thing to do. They haven't yet murdered anyone, haven't destroyed any public buildings of note, blown up airport terminals or hydro dams, corrupted computerized service-delivery systems, or threatened to mow down members of the military - except those in Afghanistan.

Justice of the Peace Louisette Girault exercised her judicial interpretation of the potential for harm of these three jihadis, defying the reluctance of the prosecution and the security forces to allow them leave to absent themselves from incarceration. She has imposed 'strict' bail conditions, and hefty sums of surety to ensure they are not flight risks.

And we, the public, watch agape, as three men whose flirtation with Islamist jihad promised to threaten our security and peace and freedoms, are permitted to rejoin society.

Hot damn!
