This is Canada: A Haven for Raving Radical Islamists

This South-Africa-born imam calls publicly for the "annihilation of Jews"; he claims that Canadian society is "evil and filthy" for tolerating homosexuality, and praises the Taliban. He was invited by the University of Victoria's Muslim Student's Association to deliver a lecture with the title The Importance of Connecting with the Muslim Community. "This is a great opportunity to learn about the value of unity, support, and connection among fellow Muslims", the association, a sanctioned University of Victoria student club, describes the the lecture.

On his Facebook page Kathrada posted videos praising the beauty of dying for the faith, that martyrs are forgiven all sins and given their place in paradise to be married to "72-black-eyed houris". "We beg Allah to honour us and place us among the martyrs." His group, Muslim Youth of Victoria, serves to radicalize Muslim youth, to encourage among them terrorist acts. Devotees are reported to be young and immersed in social media. Kathrada prayed in a sermon for the annihilation of "the plundering, transgressor Jew".

Operating from the second floor of a nondescript commercial building, his Muslim Youth of Victoria sermons have been featured by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), translated for transcriptions of their extremist content. Following the grisly murder of a teacher in France, beheaded by Islamists, Kathrada spoke of the murdered teacher as "a cursed, evil-spirited filthy excuse for a human being". He praised the October 7 massacres in Israel for bringing "humiliation" to the Zionists: "Oh Allah, bring annihilation upon the plundering aggressor Jews."

"I warn myself and the rest of  you: Let us not mock those who are fighting for the sake of Allah."

"The Jews have an ancient and dark history of bloodshed and breaking covenants and treaties."

"If Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them Himself, But He ordered armed struggle. Listen! He ordered armed struggle to test some of you by means of others."

Victoria's only official mosque, Masjid Al-Iman, distanced itself in 2019 from Kathrada. Kathrada's Muslim Youth of Victoria "do not represent the view of the Muslim youth in Victoria nor the view of the mosque", a statement from the mosque's imam, Ismail Nur said, renouncing Kathrada's style of Islam. The UVic Muslim Student's Association has a track record of inviting rabid Islamist fanatics to speak.

Now, it seems that mere days before the invited Kathrada is to speak, the University of Victoria has refused to allow the imam to address the intended audience on the grounds of the university.
