Canada's Support to Ukraine's Battle Against Russia : vs Canada's Israel File

"These come from a stockpile of C6 legacy guns [approximately 1,500 units] -- and it was decided that they would be either repurposed for drill and classroom training or declared surplus."
"A number of them are still serviceable and thus available for donation to Ukraine."
National Defence spokeswoman Andree-Anne Poulin

Handguns earmarked for destruction by Canada's Department of National Defence will instead find a new home, with arrangements underway to halt the destruction of 11,000 Browning Hi-Power pistols, so that 10,500 of the aged/surplus 9mm pistols can be shipped to Ukraine. The Browning Hi-Powers were removed from service once the Canadian Forces belatedly received modern new handguns. The Second World War pistols were troublesome due to a lack of available parts amid concerns the weapons were no longer to be relied upon for proper functioning.

As well, Canada announced through its Defence Minister Bill Blair the plan to send C6 machine-guns to Ukraine. Some 970 of the machine-guns earmarked for the east European's Ukraine under fire from Russia's territorial lust under guise of removing a fascist threat from Russia's doorstep, are envisioned as serving to assist Ukraine in its conflict with its Russian invaders. Expectations await 4,774 new C6 machine-guns in the process of delivery to the Canadian Military.

In the past two years Canada committed over $19.5 billion in assistance to the embattled Ukraine, inclusive of $4.5 billion in military equipment. Included are Leopard 2 main battle tanks, armoured combat support vehicles, anti-tank weapons, small arms, M777 howitzers and associated ammunition along with high-resolution drones. Canada's generosity speaks to the presence of one and one-third million Ukrainian Canadians, the third largest expatriate Ukrainian group in the world, after Ukraine and Russia.

A small number of the antiquated Browning pistols were destined for museums. Now the museum they are heading for in the hopes that they can be made operational is the battleground of Ukrainian territory. The use of the now-expendable Brownings date to the Second World War. The Browning Hi-Power weapons were taken out of service by the Canadian Military only when the new Sig Sauer P320 pistols on order began arriving.

Canada's charity to Ukraine also includes decommissioned chassis from 29 M112s and 64 Coyote light armoured vehicles once utilized by the Canadian Armed Forces. No longer operational, the surplus vehicles are to be repurposed or used for spare parts in Ukraine. As well, 80,840 additional CRV-7 rocket motors are to be shipped to Poland in the coming months, rockets once used by the Royal Canadian Air Force, now decommissioned.

Canada has a relatively small Jewish-Canadian population. Under the current Liberal government of Justin Trudeau, the firm and close relationship that Canada enjoyed with Israel under previous governments, most notably that of former Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservative-led government, has changed dramatically. When the Canadian Muslim population, three times that of the long-settled Jewish Canadian demographic began its 'Pro-Palestinian' 'Pro-Hamas' demonstrations while demonizing Israel and Jews everywhere, in a viral tide of blatant antisemitism, Justin Trudeau responded by condemning antisemitism and 'Islamophobia'.

Canada's minister of Foreign Affairs, Melanie Joly made it quite clear what the Liberal government's position is on Canada's relations with Israel, as per its  relations with Palestinian terrorism. A relationship that saw Liberal government ministers echoing the Prime Minister, condemning Israel's military over atrocities that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad were responsible for. Jews in Canada, hounded off university campuses by Hamas-supporting groups were left to their own devices for self-protection.

"Our policy has been clear. Since Jan. 8, we have not accepted any form of arms export permits to be sent to Israel."
"We are asking questions to these companies. Following that, I asked my department to look into any existing permits of arms or parts of arms that could have been sent to Israel."
"Following that, I suspended this summer around 30 existing permits of Canadian companies and we are asking questions to these companies."
Foreign Affairs minister Melanie Joly

"Canada has not issued any permits for items destined to Israel for major conventional arms or light weapons, e.g., battle tanks, armoured combat vehicles, large calibre artillery systems, combat aircraft and unmanned combat aerial vehicles, attack helicopters, warships and missiles, missile launchers, heavy machine guns and recoilless rifles, since 1991 [the earliest year for which the Department has records]."
"In terms of small arms, e.g. pistols, revolvers, carbines and rifles, over the past 30 years, there have only been four export permits issued under the [Export and Import Permits Act], in 2008, 2010, 2015 and 2018."
Foreign Affairs deputy minister David Morrison

In this war where the Jewish State fights to eradicate terrorism unleashed unremittingly against its population, year after year after year, culminating in a savagely sadistic incursion of thousands of Palestinian terrorists across the border from Gaza into southern Israel to slaughter 1,200 infants, elderly, raped and mutilated girls and women, entire families burned to death, farming communities destroyed, foreign farm workers killed and kidnapped along with 240 Israeli hostages, Israel fights its battles alone.

The blatant antisemitism of Justin Trudeau's government plays to the electorate; the larger the numbers of discrete groups of disparate ethnic origins, the more attention they receive from this government. Standing with Israel would mean sacrificing the votes of a much larger demographic largely, but not entirely antagonistic to Israel and Canadian Jews. A government desperate to remain in power and which balances its caucus members passionate on one side of the issue or the other will resort to what comes naturally to those already tinged with a lack of moral acuity at a time when Jews are expendable.
