The largest weapons manufacturing site has been discovered by Israeli forces operating in central Gaza, since the start of the war. The site contained rockets capable of reaching north of Tel Aviv. According to the IDF the weapons plant was part of a massive tunnel system built 30 metres below the Al-Bureij camp. Rockets produced in the facility featured a range of over 100 kilometres. There were as well other factories producing weaponry such as explosives, rocket guidance systems, mortar shells, small arms, and drones.
The Al-Bureij camp is the locale where many of the weapons used by Hamas terrorists in the October 7 invasion of southern Israel were produced. The day that thousands of terrorists scrambled across the north-west Negev, slaughtering 1,200 civilians and soldiers, wounding thousands, and taking some 250 hostages back to Gaza, where Palestinian civilians joyfully celebrated and felt encouraged to molest and strike helpless abductees, from infants to teens, the elderly and terrified mothers with their young children.
During the assault, thousands of rockets were fired by Islamic Jihad and Hamas into Israel, even as their operatives who flooded the kibbutzim and farming communities across the border from Gaza were perpetrating atrocities against helpless civilians and captured Israeli military lookouts, mostly female Israeli soldiers who were raped and slaughtered.
Operations were expanded by IDF troops sweeping into the Hamas stronghold of Khan Yunis in rhe southern Gaza Strip. "Significant" tunnels were discovered, as well as a variety of weaponry, including AK-47 rifles, RPGs, grenades, ammunition and military vests. Hamas naval forces were struck by the Israeli Navy, including military posts, storage facilities and vessels.
