The Giddy Heights of Hubris

"Hey @Trevornoah -- thanks for everything you're doing to celebrate Nelson Mandela's legacy at the @G1b1Ctzn festival. Sorry I can't be with you -- but how about Canada pledges $50m to @EduCannotWait to support education for women & girls around the world? Work for you? Let's do it."

Altruism this is not. Modesty and discreet aid to those in need is simply not Justin Trudeau's style. He wants to be noticed when he's being sumptuously generous, and he doesn't mind using funding that does not actually belong to him personally to scatter the fairy-dust of his sweetly magnanimous nature. We just don't appreciate the man enough, and that sends him into a frenzy of manic action to draw our attention to just how fortunate Canada is to have the guidance -- morally progressive -- of such a paragon of virtue.

Justin Trudeau believes that on the international scene he is someone to be reckoned with for his scintillating star power. India is still in a state of amazed admiration for the Trudeau family's instant and wholesale embrace of voluptuous costumery so beloved of Bollywood stars, none of whom pose a challenge to the Canadian prime minister's poise and grace when he dances and deigns to demonstrate for the edification and admiration of the Indian public how a true thespian born to the art engages in theatrics.

This is a man who embraces the pacifism and tender feelings of world leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Fidel Castro. South Africa's ANC leadership is busy at the present time nobly acting out the role that Nelson Mandela rose to in forgiving those who trespassed against his human rights and those of his people, by asserting that in his name it made good sense to welcome and give due honour to a delegation from the Hamas terrorist group -- escorting them on a visit to Robbin Island and Mandela's jail cell, eager to encourage Hamas in its courageous resistance against Israel's existence.

Funny thing about that generous donation by Canada for which strutting Justin takes personal credit; the just of the world are understandably eager to ensure that women's education is a priority in Africa while the men, left to their own devices, make common cause with terrorists, but then there are those that considered Fidel Castro a terrorist as well, and to Justin Trudeau he's simply Uncle Fidel, bosom pal of his Daddy. That tweet grandly offering Canadian tax funding to further girls' education did not go unnoticed; its flippant expansiveness attracted the Twitterverse.

The thing of it is, most decent people shudder at the very thought of an ignoramus, a blunt misogynist like Trump irrepressibly tweeting at every and any inappropriate opportunity. His egotistical flaunting of a persona repulsive to decency highlighted by his tweets appear to have much in common with his political/social opposite; each equally besotted with themselves, each addicted to obstreperously nauseating behaviour out of whack with the gravitas of their positions. Aides for Trump as much as for Trudeau should manage to 'lose' their leaders' cellphones.

Trump reaches for women's genitalia and thinks it's amusing, no need to reflect on what that identifies him as. Trudeau simply solemnly allows that when he was caught out manhandling a woman it was simply a matter of men viewing things differently than women. Isn't that the crux of the matter? Trump makes no excuses for himself, since he doesn't allow there is any need for such. Trudeau knows nothing he ever does will ever stick to him because he's such a lovable pet and in any event excuses don't fit the bill, while reasonable explanations do, and anything he says is reasonable.

He is, after all, a confirmed feminist. And as a protector of the underdog the champion of LBGTQ2 communities. And any country that has any interest in doing official business with his Canada must understand, first and foremost, his feminist credentials. In so doing the obligation is there to awaken the social conscience within their own nations. The tool whereby that can be done is free trade which must take into account equality of opportunities for women, LGBTQ2, and aboriginals. Failure to acquiesce means that Canada will take its natural resources elsewhere.

That $50m earmarked for the Global Citizen festival concert in South Africa celebrating Nelson Mandela's centenary is a sterling cause for Canadian tax funding to be steered toward. Eventually the Liberal government may get around to funding retraining support to the thousands of former General Motors employees in aid of Ontario's unemployment in manufacturing pain. But for the tens of thousands and more in Alberta, forget it. This government's theatrics posing as support for an oil transport pipeline aside, there is no intention whatever for anything to occur but the shuttering of petroleum products extraction.

Vote Liberal!
