There are 49 people who will never 'get back' to pursuing their ambitions, their dreams, their lives, because an Islamist terrorist committed to jihad and to ridding the world of unIslamic scum decided to make a name for himself in the annals of Islamic martyrdom. And Omar Mateen's wife, Noor Salman has been acquitted of charges brought against her of obstruction and providing material support to a terrorist organization.

These are not slight charges by any means, if proven guilty and pronounced so by a jury convinced of her guilt the 31-year-old woman could have spent a long, long time in prison. The jury saw fit, however, to find this woman "not guilty" on all charges. In the courtroom, her supporters and her family were ecstatic. Among her supporters were members of CAIR, the Muslim Brotherhood-associated group; Islamist and cleverly making use of all aspects of U.S. social justice.

The Muslim Brotherhood, outlawed in Egypt and Saudi Arabia and which has a stranglehold on Jordan, and a champion in Turkey. It should be known for the company it keeps. And it is known for what it works so diligently to attain to; working steadily to further Islamist encroachment worldwide. In so doing infiltrating Western society at all its levels of influence, using the terms of democratic society piloting social justice, while steering toward Islamist supremacy.

Also in the courtroom the presence of families of the 49 victims of the June 2015 Pulse nightclub rampage sat silently disbelieving. Federal prosecutors charged that Noor Salmon and her husband had together launched a search for suitable venues where the violence he planned would be likeliest to exact the greatest number of victims, the greatest impact of shock, and gain him the greatest praise for work well done on behalf of Islamic jihad.

Prosecutors held that Omar Mateen's wife had full knowledge of his preoccupation, obtaining ammunition for his AR-15 assault-style rifle in planning his jihadi attack. That her husband was fascinated with violent jihadi videos and felt a spiritual affinity for websites featuring the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant could not have escaped his wife's attention; she gave him a "green light to commit terrorism", as the prosecution had it.

The defence outlined a far different scenario, of a woman possessed of a low intelligence level who signed a false confession after extensive questioning, an easily led woman whose sole interest was her relationship with a dependent child. And, after all, she too was a victim of a dreadful crime, since her husband, son of Afghan immigrants but himself born in the United States, was killed by police in his attack on the helpless people in the nightclub.

Trial of Pulse shooter's widow closes on key question: Victim or accomplice?
