Iranian Prayers
"You heard ‘Death to Israel’, ‘Death to the US.’ You could hear it [at last week's Al-Quds day rally]. The whole nation was shaken by these slogans. It wasn’t only confined to Tehran. The whole of the nation, you could hear, that was covered by this great movement. So we ask Almighty God to accept these prayers by the people of Iran."
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not give up support of its friends in the region — the oppressed people of Palestine, of Yemen, the Syrian and Iraqi governments, the oppressed people of Bahrain and sincere resistance fighters in Lebanon and Palestine… Our policy will not change with regards to the arrogant US government."
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
What then about the abused and oppressed people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who will have compassion for them and rally to support their claims of maltreatment and religious and political persecution? What then, of the plight of the courageous Iranians who have attempted to turn back the tide of fanatical Islamism and its fascist ideology under the guise of benevolent religious intervention in the affairs of the people of Iran and much beyond?
Why, one need only look to the last election which removed the fire-breathing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to replace him with the 'moderate Hassan Rouhani, who has succeeded in so graciously assuring the member states of the permanent Security Council of the United Nations, along with Germany, that Iran's aspiration in accessing complete nuclear mastery is for means by which it will be enabled to enhance and improve the lives of Iranians through a nuclear civil power source and medial isotope production.
It is only the evil accusations of slanderous malevolence emanating from the United States and Israel that has convinced the international community that Iran's true purpose is to avail themselves of the technical knowledge and production of nuclear warheads to match the country's evolving long-range ballistic missile arsenal. Which are also, needless to say, in the interests of peace. Don't rely on the threats spoken against Iran's enemies. Promises to destroy a Middle East country are simply taken out of context.
Just ask Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Under this moderate president the number of executions in the country reached the height of 753 in 2014, while not known is the increasing numbers for 2015. Of that number, 53 were public executions where as a sign of loyalty to the regime and respect for the Islamic precepts that support such capital punishment influences, Iranian citizens are invited to bring along their families, including children, to make the day a complete festival.
Most of those executions resulted from charges leading to convictions in cases of narcotics possession, or of homicides. The public executions serve as a public display of the central government's power, a nudge to the public to remind them of which country they are citizens in. While the infamous nuclear negotiations were being argued, arbitrary detention of political dissidents was carried on apace. Leaders of Iran's pro-democracy Green Movement remain under house arrest.
A parliamentarian who was sufficiently out of tune with the regime to call for the release of those leaders was beaten severely by vigilante groups with connections to the Basij paramilitary. The parliamentarian, Ali Mottahari, had sought refuge at a local police station, and his trust was somewhat proven misplaced when police stood by as a mob landed its blows on the hapless parliamentarian.
Motahari speaks of the atmosphere of fear among journalists who must exercise self-censorship in self-preservation. Thirteen journalists and bloggers this past year joined those already incarcerated when they forgot to self-censor. One weekly was closed for calling for a fair trial of opposition leaders held under house arrest. Iranian workers and labour activists have been imprisoned on charges of disturbing public order. Attacks take place ostensibly to enforce modesty and morals on Iranian youth.
Followers of Islamic mysticism, and Muslim converts to Christianity are harassed and repressed. Those who cling to the Baha'i faith are subjected to the most severe repression with over a hundred Baha'i imprisoned at the present time. This is the progress that has been achieved under the 'moderate' President Rouhani whose smile always hovers on the ready to camouflage reality.
Under the 'moderate' Rouhani, the Islamic Revolutionary Court, the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and the Basij paramilitary and their allied vigilante groups whose actions and occupations are so vital to the continuation of the Ayatollahs' Islamist reign are all given the freedom to pursue their purpose in light of the honours due them as regime stalwarts, none of them shirking their duties in oppressing Iranians.
Whose appearance in immense numbers to hear out their great leader mirrors the adoring numbers of the faithful who appear at the Holy See to bask in the presence of the Pope, to listen to his homilies, his compassion for the poor and the oppressed, his appeals for world peace, and his admonitions to those in power to relinquish that power over the masses and empower them through filtering down the goods of the world so they too may live in plenty and harmony.
Just as the mullahs of Iran are doing, shouldering the sanctions-depleted meagre state income, showering benefits on the people to ensure they won't suffer deprivation and deciding instead to defund costly arms manufacturing and nuclear installation building, and the financial support of Islamist terror groups in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Gaza. No fear, a new day is dawning on the near horizon, with Iran an emerging nuclear state and oil finances raining down from heaven with the blessing of the Hidden Mahdi.
