Denying the Undeniable

"In the current situation we have to maintain military presence in the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific as well as the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico."
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu

"Across the last two days ... we have seen columns of Russian equipment, primarily Russian tanks, Russian artillery, Russian air defence systems and Russian combat troops entering into Ukraine."
"We do not have a good picture at this time of how many. We agree that there are multiple columns that we have seen."
U.S. General Phillip Breedlove

Even as the chief commander of NATO accuses Moscow of sending troops and tanks once again into Ukraine, for its part Moscow claims that the tensions Russia is experiencing with the West over Ukraine now requires Russia to shore up its forces in the the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea. Additionally Russian long-range bombers are engaged in flights along Russian borders and over the Arctic Ocean.

But it would seem that Russian aspirational moves have engaged elsewhere as well, and surprisingly, including the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. Moreover the pace and duration of those flights require more stringent maintenance, and as a result directives have been issued to allied industries. Otherwise known as the total war machine in preparation for whatever is hovering on the horizon of unsettled international relations.

Regular patrols across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans had been cut back after the dissolution of the USSR, now they're back in vogue. Back then there was the sad atmosphere prevailing of a crumbling economy. Thanks to oil and gas revenues and much of Europe's dependence on Russian energy, the country has the financing it requires to upgrade its war machinery and it has engaged in just that, and with a vengeance.

In the process of amassing a greater inventory of modern, sleek and deadly munitions, Russia has lock-stepped its belligerence to its arms in tandem with its ambitions to restore to Soviet Russia the greatness that was once hers. Unfortunately, Moscow's blandishments to its former satellites have fallen on ears too fearful to contemplate a loss of hard-won sovereignty, forcing the Kremlin to use other persuasive means of enlarging the Russian Federation.

In Ukraine, Novorossiya is the antidote to a reluctant eastern Europe. NATO has reported a surge in Russian military flights over the Black, Baltic and North Seas, along with the Atlantic Ocean. Russia's plans to advance its military presence includes seeking permission for its ships to use ports in Latin America, Asia, the Mediterranean and anywhere else that could be used for supply replenishing and maintenance. From Russia to the Mediterranean; beyond ambitious.

Talks are ongoing between the Russian military with Algeria, Cyprus, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba, Seychelles, Vietnam and Singapore. It's a cinch that Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba will meet the requests with huge enthusiasm. Russia has grandiose plans for its future and consolidating collegial relations with countries far from its geography. For those fortunate enough to border Russia, relations are meant to be even warmer.

Russia's kindly attentions to its neighbours are simply misinterpreted by the interlopers of NATO, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, The United States and the European Union jealously dabbling in espionage and crudely making warlike overtures toward a Russia whose only concerns are for the best of relations with its neighbours.

Russian defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov stated that his country had "stopped paying attention to unfounded statements" by General Breedlove "about his 'seeing' Russian military columns that are allegedly invading Ukraine". As for Ukraine itself, the Kyiv government is hysterical and paranoid calling on the UN Security Council to engage in yet another tiresome emergency session.

As for the OSCE mission warning of a "rising" risk of military escalation in the area, they are clearly scare-mongering, trying to impress Moscow with their concern over misunderstood but friendly relations with a Russian-speaking contingent of people living in eastern Ukraine whom the government in Kyiv has for too long deprived of their civil rights. Those rights have now been restored to them, thanks to the initiative of the rebels declaring their freedom from oppression.

A new era has dawned, one which Moscow is proud to recognize under the Russian banner of President Vladimir Putin; the legitimacy and liberty of the confederation of Donetsk People's Republic and Lugansk People's Republic. The people must have their say, and the reality of Novorosskiya its day.
