Bargaining With the Angel of Death

"If one permits an infidel to continue in his role as a corrupter of the earth, the infidel's moral suffering will be all the worse. If one kills the infidel, and this stops him from perpetrating his misdeeds, his death will be a blessing to him."
Iranian Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, 1984

"All elements of American power [will be used] to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon..."
Alternately:
"America is pursuing a diplomatic resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue. This can only happen if Iran takes this historic opportunity. My message to Iran's leaders and people is simple: do not let this opportunity pass."
U.S. President Barack Obama

"At Iran's behest, Nouri al-Maliki's Shite-led government in Iraq systematically arrested, tortured and murdered members of that country's Sunni minority."
"[Such actions] paved the way for the stunning political and military conquests in Iraq by Islamic State terrorists."
Adam Ereli, (former) U.S. ambassador to Bahrain
"Opportunity?" The Islamic Republic of Iran is big, really big on opportunities, on recognizing them, on planning for them, on taking them. Before the Republic at this very moment is an opportunity they have long recognized, have long planned to capitalize on, have carefully crafted, have denied strenuously having any interest in when pressed by concerned foreign authorities, and have finally seen to be closing in on. The attainment of nuclear secrets.

Of course nuclear warheads are all very well, but a propulsion system to aim and shoot is also a requirement. And Iran has been refining its store of missile launchers as well, proudly arraying them for public consumption instilling pride in Iranians who are informed that their country is an exemplar in scientific, technological and nuclear research and attainment. Nothing will deter Iran, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has made that abundantly clear.

He is embarking on a journey to fulfill his obligations to fundamentalist Islamism and to complete the mission that his predecessor, the man who launched the Islamic Revolution, set out to execute. Annihilation of non-believers, for they know not what they do in rejecting surrender to Islam, and as non-Muslims pollute the Earth with their corrupting presence. It is therefore, the duty of all pious Muslims to engage in jihad, to deter them from the evil they do.

It is in their own best interests, after all, and non-Muslims should in reality be grateful to be sent to welcoming Death, for it is a mercy that jihad performs, a blessing in death. Ayatollah Khamenei has conducted himself with impeccable attention to the strategy at hand; just as President Vladimir Putin persuaded President Obama to conduct a diplomatic persuasion for Syrian President al-Assad to surrender his chemical weapons stockpile, rather than calling in his red lines in the sand, so too has he been persuaded to negotiate diplomatically with Tehran over its nuclear program.

Just as well that the forever leering, jeering Ahmadinejad has been placed in the dustbin of history, for now the world sees a more modern, 'moderate' president of Iran in Hassan Rouhani, one who stated in the most diplomatic manner, befitting a reasonable individual, that "Saying 'Death to America' is easy. We need to express 'Death to America' with action". And in this he has succeeded admirably, pushing back another red line on his country's acquisition of nuclear weapons.

A deal is nigh come November, and at that time, sanctions will be lifted. What the deal consists of will be, it would now appear, is allowing Iran to proceed, but in a more leisurely manner so that the spirit of menace is somewhat diluted with time. This will appear to satisfy the American administration whose criteria for satisfaction appears to be somewhat at odds with its own State Department which characterizes Iran as the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism.

With whom, needless to say, no one but the most innocently idealistic or deliberately obtuse would choose to make a deal. Between Hezbollah and the Quds Force of the Republican Guard, covert terroristic activity occasionally startles the international community, which soon enough, after enough stated outrage, goes back to sleep over the issue of Iran as world disruptor. Even the United Nations whose toothless outrage and surrender to the Muslim Bloc within its sanctified halls allows itself to be a useless institution has something to say about Iran.

The UN's special investigator on human rights in Iran, Ahmed Shaheed (Ahmed the Martyr), released a report which detailed multiple instances of torture, rape, electroshock, burnings, amputations and floggings, let alone the rather distressing reality of a thousand Iranians being executed since the moderate Rouhani became president. Details, details.

Iran ranks "among the world's top three worst jailers of the press every year since 2009", according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. It vies for top spot with its congenial fellow Islamist country Turkey in that very special journalist-oppressing category.
