World Order

The universe is not, after all, turning as it should. For some it may be, and it most certainly appeared not all that long ago, that the universe was bowing at the modest feet of the man who offered hope to Americans, emphasizing that they must be audacious in their outlook, and all could be accomplished if they only voted for him. In one fell swoop they would right the wrongs of racial America, and he would reciprocate by affording them, through his wise choices, the best that the universe could offer the country.

Hope and change, he offered. And the people of America surged forward in their elated enthusiasm to embrace their Messiah. They had hope that he would change things so that his forward momentum would restore America to the respect of the world, and better, far better, make Americans proud of themselves and at the same time lift them out of the dejection of despair and unemployment, gifting them with a government whose benevolence knew no bounds.

His domestic challenge was not only to meet the oncoming financial collapse with the wise choices that would surmount the threat of global economic downfall, impacting deleteriously on the U.S. and by extension the country that held most of America's debts, along with all those financial institutions so dependent on the international integration of world finance. So he rescued the banks and auto manufacturers and Wall Street recovered nicely.

The staggering unemployment rate left cities in ragged ruin with abandoned neighbourhoods and sky-high unemployment. A correction is slowly nudging itself forward, and the administration's cheering section is loudly triumphant. In the process, this was the president to beat all presidents since none other ever became a Nobel Laureate only three months into office, and of the only other two who were granted the Nobel Peace Prize that was for recognized accomplishments.

President Barack Obama's was speculative in nature, with the world looking on, anticipating great things from this beacon of smiling hope: "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." His successfully extraordinary efforts in international diplomacy have distanced America from its long-time friends and allies; his administration is held in deep suspicion and distrust by countries from the Middle East, to Europe, to east Asia.

As for his internal successes, he had this to say just recently: "I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me. We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this."  The "this" of which he speaks is his personal guarantee that millions of Americans stood to be covered under his version of universality in medical coverage.

The Obamacare package that he ploughed through Congress resulted in a serving up of bitterness of estranged distance between the Republicans and the Democrats, a distance so deep and wide that the recent shut-down of effective government can be laid directly at his feet. "If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health-care plan, you'll be able to keep your health-care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what", he promised.

To the 3.5-million Americans that are seeing their health care policies slip away, and they are forced by law to take out replacement policies costing them far more than their previous ones, the Obama version of universal health care assurances appears to have bombed. Somewhat akin to his 'red-line' assurances that America would not countenance the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime. Somewhat reminiscent of his pledge of reliability as a friend to Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc.

Under his administration the federal debt has effectively doubled. The 44th president of the United States of America has impoverished his nation for the foreseeable future. He has managed to run up more debt than the previous 43 altogether. When he took office the debt stood at a gaspingly-huge $10-trillion. By the time he leaves office that debt will stand at $20-trillion.

And there's China, the manufacturing juggernaut, breathing fire behind America, singeing its arse.
