Politic?

This is a blog dedicated to a personal interpretation of political news of the day. I attempt to be as knowledgeable as possible before commenting and committing my thoughts to a day's communication.

White Knight, Riding

He is a genuine "progressive", because he claims to be and this is how he parades himself before his adoring audience.  The Conservatives used that word in their name tag for many years, to assure voters that though they were conservative, they were progressive, nonetheless.  Until Stephen Harper renamed the party and they were no longer progressive conservatives but the Conservative Party of Canada.

We may now safely assume from all clues to the present that Justin Trudeau wishes now to lead the Liberal progressives of Canada.  He is a white knight riding to the rescue of the country.  And he does that most genially and genuinely because he simply adores the country, and furthermore he loves everyone in Canada.

He is the stranger no longer a stranger because he has become a friend; our best friend, prepared to lead us out of the political wilderness.

Justin Trudeau's Canada - and he will make it ours - is that of "a compassionate society", with medicare at its pinnacle and with descending attributes of huge value, "an open and broad" nation, one that must have an economy based on environmental sustainability, with nicely balanced budgets and above all, a middle class that is satisfied with its place within Canada.

Much of that, actually, sounds like what we've already got.  It sounds like what we got when we changed governments from Liberal to Conservative.  Justin Trudeau believes that this great country's huge and wonderfully enriching store of natural resources should be exploited, gradually and carefully, to make us all healthy, wealthy and wise.  Is that not what is happening?

He envisions a "new democracy", one that is fair and just for all.  In theory this is what we all yearn for, and we do our utmost to attain it.  Trouble is, there are always dissenters, and destabilizing issues and events, and we must deal with them as they erupt, since they cannot be prevented, given the inconsistencies of human behaviour.

"We need to open our minds to new solutions, to listen to Canadians, to trust them."  Isn't that puzzling, he spoke also of offering Canadians a new alternative; trusting politicians.  And he will be the politician par excellence that all Canadians will learn to love and cherish.  His name tells us so.  His is a mission, a mission to complete his destiny for he believes he was born to govern.

He may have something there; anyone who could stand before a class of obstreperous teens with a mind to teaching them in an academic setting designed to take their minds away from hormones and social celebrities and hypnotic drugs, and nerve-jangling music, must have acquired all the expertise required to steer society in the right progressive direction.

He acknowledges that he has no intention of portraying himself as perfection: "I do not present myself as a man with all the answers", but he'll entertain the questions and answer them anyway.  And offer a new kind of society, a caring one, that the great middle class on whose enterprise and hard work the country relies to keep the engine of government chugging along appreciates.
"Think about it for a moment; when was the last time you had a leader you actually trusted?  And not just the nebulous 'trust to govern competently', but actually trusted, the way you trust a friend to pick up your kids from school, or a neighbour to keep your extra front door key?  Real trust?  That's a respect that has to be earned, step by step."

And he's the one to do it.  We thought he was stumping for Prime Minister of Canada.  But it's Neighbourhood Watch he's involved with, and as such he may be adequately qualified.
