Upfront and Honest

"The current government of Canada under the leadership of Mr. Stephen Harper is known for extreme policies in the domain of foreign policy.  The hostile behaviour of the current racist government in Canada in reality follows the policies dictated by the Zionists (Israel) and the British."                                                                                                                                                            Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast
Well, that's a surprise.  Canada has stung the sensitive feelings of the Iranian Republic.  They can dish it out, threatening the existence through violence of the 'Zionist' state, they can mount an attack on the British embassy in Tehran, but it rankles when their very well understood-and-attributed terrorist attacks and their covert attempts to undermine the authority of other countries finally come to a screeching result.

Then the liberal-democratic country proud of and foundationally committed to its acceptance of multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-lingual population whose equal rights are guaranteed under the Constitution is obviously a racist society and its government intent on provoking unrest and destabilizing the world community.  Precisely those qualities which the Government of Iran would shudder at practising.

"Do I anticipate specific actions?  No, not necessarily", said Prime Minister Harper when queried whether it is his opinion that Tehran will attempt some mode of pay-back.  In Vladivostok for the regular APEC meeting, Mr. Harper took the opportunity to voice his condemnation of the Republic of Iran's development of military nuclear capability, for genocidal threats against Israel, for arming the Alawite Syrian regime.

"But we know this is a country that does not stop at anything.  That is just the reality of the situation ...  Nothing (Iran might do) would surprise me.  That is all the more reason why it is essential that our Canadian personnel no longer be present", in Tehran; the reason for recalling Canadian diplomats from the country just as Iranian diplomats were invited to leave their Ottawa embassy.

There are currently three Iranian Canadians on death row in Iran.  Innocently enough leaving Canada for a temporary visit with family in Iran, then arrested on charges of espionage, and sentenced to death.  "There is no doubt that Iran is a sponsor of terrorism.  I think we have to speak the truth, we have to be honest, we have to be upfront and we're doing that."  Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird.
