Cause and Effect

We were wondering what the cause of all the conflict in Syria was about.  And now, of course we know.  Haven't heard yet?  You must have suspected, at the very least.  And there is the confirmation:  during his Tehran visit Syrian foreign minister Walid al-Moualem in conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Salehi let it be known that Israel is responsible for the violent turmoil in his country.

"The Israeli position toward the crisis in Syria proves that a plot was hatched against the regime in Damascus", confirmed Ali Akbar Salehi.  Israel had plotted to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.  Of course, of course.  Furthermore, explained Salehi, the Arab states that had condemned President Assad's desire to protect the Syrian people from the terrorists inspired by Israel, obviously adopted "Israel's position".

The Syrian regime is capable of maintaining the momentum and its upper hand in the conflict, to "defeat all the conspiracies and military aggression and protect the Syrian land."  And there in a nutshell is the appropriate and proper perspective on what really is happening in Syria.  Consider yourselves duly informed, for this is the message from the lion's mouth.

"The regime has tried for three days to regain Salaheddine, but its attempts have failed and it is suffered heavy losses in human life, weapons and tanks, and it has been forced to withdraw", is another perspective according to Col. Abdel-Jabbar al-Oqaidi, head of the Joint Military Council, representing one of several rebel groups in Aleppo.

Over three thousand rebel fighters were ensconced in Aleppo, he informed Reuters.  Of course, many, many more than that number have fled the city, desperate to find refuge.  The remaining citizens are vulnerable to the imminent risk of injury or death.  And face food and fuel shortages.  All because of the diabolical plans of the Israelis.

Of course, if one were to enquire of any Syrians, representing the Alawites, the Sunnis, the Druze, the Christians, the response would be similar: it is Israel's fault.  Having completely manipulated the United States, the Jewish state went on to conspire with the Arab League and Turkey, and they are in complete conspiratorial cohesion with one another.

As matters stand at the moment, neither the Syrian military nor the disorganized but intent rebel fighters remain in full control of Salaheddine district in the southwest of Aleppo.  It is a ghost town, shops closed, no one moving about in the streets.  Which hasn't stopped the rebel fighters in balaclavas firing their machine guns and assault rifles at unseen enemies.

While the wounded, both civilian and fighters are transported to makeshift medical aid stations.  Whose volunteer medical workers are quite cognizant of the fact that should they fall into the hands of the regime, their lives will be forfeit; not a clean and quick death necessarily, but one guaranteed to extract extreme pain before the final blow.
