"Lesbians With Penises"
New Westminster nurse Amy Eileen Hamm. |
"I want to demonstrate my strength in going through this [trial by the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives] and trying to support other women to similarly stand up for what they believe in.""[Gender identity is] anti-scientific, metaphysical nonsense."Amy Hamm, nurse, British Columbia"[The University of Sussex had ordered] mandatory acceptance of gender identity in every text [those failing to comply faced being labeled transphobe]. And it included basically a compulsion to go along with the fiction that people can change sex, that transwomen are literally women, that transmen are literally men. That there is no possible cost to these ideas, which are supposed to be kind and inclusive and only to benefit transpeople without any cost to anybody else.""All you need is this feeling [that you are women] and none of us can argue with the feeling once it's apparent].""Biology hasn't gone away. But all of us have lost the ability to freely refer to facts about ourselves, important facts, for instance that we are a sexually dimorphic species."Kathleen Stock, philosophy professor, University of Sussex, England
Amy
Hamm's 'unprofessional' conduct which landed her in the sights of the
B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives stemmed from what she said that was
profoundly offensive; that she believes that biology is a fact and that
there are only two sexes. Her sin was not having harmed anyone as a
nurse, of having denied treatment to anyone, or wrong-doing in her
professional capacity. Yet two formal complaints had been lodged, one of
them anonymously.
The second complainant was enraged that the nurse had helped to erect a sign in Vancouver that read: "I (heart symbol) J.K. Rowling" the
author of the Harry Potter series, a bete noir of trans activists. Amy
Hamm believes, just as Rowling does, that trans activists have silenced
women, making it dangerous for females in prisons and changing rooms,
where men who have designated themselves women are free in such premises
to act out their sexual predations on women.
Amy Hamm sinned unforgiveably in the period between July 2018 and March of 2021 when she made "discriminatory and derogatory statements regarding transgender people while identifying herself as a nurse of nurse educator".
And this is what warranted a trial that began in September 2022, with a
total of 21 days of hearings, to the present time, November 2023. The
embattled Hamm in closing her evidence stated she felt compelled to
speak out because of the injustice to women, and it would be unfair if
she had to censor her thoughts and speech.
In
her defence a witness was called to testify. Kathleen Stock, a
professor of philosophy who had similarly sinned and was hounded by
trans activists from her position with the University of Sussex through a
campaign of threats, insults and "the weaponizing of the internal complaints mechanism".
Her testimony spoke of the cost to women and to society and the manner
in which we communicate, with the societal agreement to "inclusivity"
emboldening trans activists to label critics insultingly.
Professor
Stock referred to an all-too-common situation of a transwoman who had
sexually assaulted a ten-year old girl in Scotland. Born male, but
identifying as female, the transwoman was placed by Scottish authorities
in a hostel for vulnerable women, and then later, in a prison for
women. To question this man's preferred gender, to question whether that
individual should have been placed in women's institutions, meant
incurring the wrath of trans activists who respond by screaming: 'transphobe'!
Trans
activists, pointed out the professor, have shut off debate by
controlling language and calling any who disagree, bigots. Both nurse
Hamm and Professor Stock explained they were prepared to respect
transpeople, but it was the activists who pushed the agenda beyond
reasonable in society that they found fault with. Special-interests
groups shutting down public discussion claiming transphobia, pointed out
professor Stock, would lead to "an authoritarian, illiberal state of affairs".
As
matters now stand, she pointed out, children were growing up in
confusion around gender, given the language surrounding sex and identity
becoming unrealistically contorted. That in the name of gender identity
and equality children were undergoing surgery and experimental drug use
with no clear understanding of what the final episodes in heir lives
would be comprised of. She herself, as a lesbian finds it ludicrous that
men could now identify themselves as women, while remaining attracted
to females.
According to activists, these men are "lesbians with penises".

"Women in particular feel suppressed and have not got freedom of speech in this issue and freedom of thought and cannot talk about what matters to them. It has a chilling effect on discussing it. You just can't talk about sexism, misogyny, sex-based violence, fairness in sporting competition, sexual orientation.""They're disproportionately done on females [the use of experimental drugs, surgical procedures], so there's a sex-based difference int he way that these things are playing out. But again, if we take away sex-based language, we can't name that."Professor Kathleen Stock
