So (Yawn) What Else Is New?
"It is the CRA’s [Canada Revenue Agency] view that the society’s [Islamic Society of North America-Canada (ISNA-Canada)] resources may have, directly or indirectly, been used the support the political efforts of Jamaat-e-Islami and/or its armed wing Hizbul Mujahideen."
"[ISNA-Canada had] failed to conduct any meaningful due diligence [in transferring $136,000 to the Kashmir region, where Hizbul Muhajideen has been fighting Indian troops]."
"[By acting as a] conduit [for other organizations, ISNA-Canada] may have, knowingly or unknowingly, provided the benefits of its status as a registered charity to support the efforts of a political party and its armed wing."
"Providing resources to organizations operating in support of a political purpose, including the achievement of nationhood or political autonomy, are not recognized at law as charitable."
"[We have concerns about ISNA-Canada that] have not been fully alleviated. Specifically, our position that the society failed to devote its resources to its own charitable activities in that it gifted resources to non-qualified donees still remains."
Canada Revenue Agency documents
"We are saddened by this outcome. [We have no links to terrorism and have made progressive and important changes [to our governance and] how we operate as one of the largest Muslim organizations in Canada."
"We remain politically impartial and are not in any way linked to any political or extremist group." "We will continue our operations and remain committed to always striving to be the best possible organization we can be in service to Canadians."
ISNA-Canada statement
"A suspended organization will continue to be listed on the CRA’s list of charities, with a notice advising the public that the charity is suspended."
"Once a suspension has been lifted, a charity can begin to issue official donation receipts."
Dany Morin, CRA spokesperson
Dissembling, the ISNA-Canada statement is replete with a number of evasive, placatory, self-defending implications. Stressing their role is to serve "Canadians" -- as a reminder to any and all that might be concerned over their being linked by the CRA, even with the all-forgiving implication they transferred funds to a terrorism group "unknowingly" -- that their members are not only Muslims but Canadians. Hidden from view is that they are merely performing a duty in providing funds to Muslim terrorists since though they may be regarded by non-Muslim authorities as such, Islam recognizes them as noble jihadists, and Islam insists that the faithful support the work of jihad.
In providing funding to an Islamic terrorist group ISNA-Canada, linked just as CAIR has been to the Muslim Brotherhood, was merely performing an act of religion-inspired obligation. Such groups attend to Sharia law, not Canadian law. What is forbidden under Western law is a divine obligation under Sharia law. Taqiyya (evasion of acknowledging any truth that may have a deleterious effect on Islamic progress) is not only permitted in Islam, but is a traditional and revered tactic to throw off the scent of accusation by non-Muslims of irregular, unlawful and harmful acts creating disequilibrium useful to Islam.
The announcement by Canada Revenue Agency that it has investigated yet another Islamic centre and found it wanting in obeying Canadian law and order, taking steps to suspend the Islamic Society of North America-Canada for a year rather than taking permanent steps to disallow it from charitable status is but a slap on the wrist. Criminal charges should be brought against the society by the federal government for its actions in support of terrorism aimed at a non-Muslim country with funding coming out of Canada. Fining the Mississauga-based centre a penalty of $550,000 enables it nonetheless to continue its covert activity.
Investigative journalist Stewart Bell, who wrote and described the story as it unfolded for Global TV, has a long history of looking into Muslim actions in Canada, his Cold Terror: How Canada Nurtures and Exports Terrorism to the World, described terrorist (jihadi) cells established within Canada, and should have been a must-read for government agencies but in all likelihood was simply ignored. Published some time ago when the world was just waking up to the threat posed by 'militant' Islam, the situation has only grown more fraught since then.

This action on the part of Revenue Canada is neither an isolated event nor a 'first-time' occurrence. Federal audits of four affiliated Mississauga charities: ISNA Islamic Services of Canada was last year stripped of charitable status for similar reasons, funding 'mujahideen', while ISNA Development Foundation was also stripped of charitable status for similar reasons, and further, the Canadian Islamic Trust Foundation’s charity status was revoked as well; quite the track record. But nonetheless they don't appear to be in bad odour with the current Government of Canada.
There are tens of thousands of registered charities in Canada, representing all manner of concerns, from health and related medical services, to religious groups, to charitable enterprises of all kinds, yet of that staggering number representing the backbone of society to the truly irrelevant in the social order, only three are currently serving CRA suspensions. Of those, ISNA-Canada is by far the largest, with $3.1-million in reported revenues in 2016, according to the CRA.
And their actions and activities receive government acknowledgement and support, such that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke at an ISNA-Canada event in 2013 and Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale was photographed there as well, in April of 2017. See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil. All is right with the world, sleep on.
