Shame? Hell, No!

"He looks relaxed and I think there's a lot of Torontonians who believe in him and we're hoping he's successful."
Helen Papathanasakis, Toronto voter

"It's a travesty to have him in the East York parade ... I just don't think I can stand here and not say something against his presence."
"I don't get the mindset of people who want to introduce their kids to him. It's like introducing them to some tyrant from past times."
Elinor Mahoney, Toronto voter

"Thanks to my treatment, I can proudly say today that I have begun the process of taking control of my life. But folks, this is a long, long road to recovery and no matter what I do, no matter what I do, I will never be able to change the mistakes that I have made in the past."
"When I look back on some of the things I have said and some of the things I did when I was using, I am ashamed, embarrassed and humiliated. I was wrong, and I have no one, but no one, to blame but myself. I want to sincerely, sincerely apologize, not just to the people of Toronto, but every single person who was hurt by my words and my actions."
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford

"I thought he was doing really well for the first part. It sounded very sincere and heartfelt and full of acknowledgements that he had to make. And then, unfortunately, it morphed into a campaign speech, which kind of cast doubt on the whole thing."
Toronto City Councillor John Filion

Yesterday this unremitting reprobate posing as a responsible, effective, respectable mayor of Canada's largest city, apologized for having shamed embarrassed and humiliated the city and its residents, let alone the entire population of the country, under the guise of having himself felt ashamed, embarrassed and humiliated by his very own unforgivable behaviour. Obviously, he has never felt embarrassed enough to do the honourable thing and resign his post.

Obviously, there are enough people living in the City of Toronto of extremely low expectations that they are happy to tolerate the antic lunacy of a man purporting sanity, but given to excesses of moral depravity in consorting with criminals, public drunkenness and enjoying criminal recreational drug use in the company of low-lifes with whom he has so much in common. This disreputable man has his devoted followers; one of life's many puzzles.

His disgusting performances aside, having nothing whatever of value to offer the electorate he still preens himself and prepares to offer once again his services as mayor of the city. Unfit to serve in any public capacity though he is, it is feasible for him, under the current acceptable standards of decency defeated to portray himself as misunderstood and the victim of a medical condition. Compassion decrees that he must be tolerated, and his 'recovery' anticipated by one and all.

Mind-bogglingly, as he began his Canada Day event-attendances he marched along the parade route for the East York Canada day parade behind his closest mayoral rivals, John Tory and Olivia Chow, entertaining a steady stream of fans who stop to shake his hand and have their pictures taken with him. "You look good, Rob. You look good", shouted one man.

Parents and their children pose with the mayor. Councillor Doug Ford had his opportunity to
speak of the wonderful affect of his brother fresh out of months of rehabilitation. "When you watch their poll numbers come down, they're all angry out there. There's nothing positive coming from them, there's no platform" he says of his brother's election rivals. "Obviously when you walk out and you have them on one side of the street and no one even acknowledges they're there and they got Rob as a rockstar going down the street, there you go, that's the difference."

Utter dissolute madness has overtaken the citizens of Toronto. How is it possible that this degenerate and pathetic specimen of a human being who has breached all the tenets of civility and good faith, who has succumbed to all the wretched disgraceful conduct of a failure of human society can still elicit a favourable response from the electorate?

"There are so many questions that are unanswered from the media, from the police and, I think from the public. I think we need answers to those questions before we will really know what has happened in the last number of months and what is going to happen going forward." An understatement of dismay and disbelief from John Tory, a Toronto mayoral candidate.
