The world of Islam is on the receiving end of a contemptible plot by the West to degrade its existence by a united campaign of viciously malign interference and a slanderous war of Islamophobia. Canadians have this information on the authority of Chiheb Esseghaier who, along with his co-conspirator as terror suspects in a plot to wreak havoc on Canadians, is awaiting trial on terrorism charges.

According to this man, steeped in the faith of Islam, the events of 9/11 are inconsequential in their effects as compared with the horrendous violence the West is visiting upon Muslim countries. One of which was his own, Tunisia. This jihadist is no intellectual ignoramus, he is a scientist, an bio-engineer, and he was conducting research, some of it of prize-winning calibre, as a doctoral student with a research arm of the Universite du Quebec.

He has granted a prison interview to the Quebec newspaper La Presse. And in that interview he cites the Iraq embargo, the Afghanistan conflict and support for Israel as examples of how the West is "plunging a knife into the body" of the Muslim world. He has no intention of denying the charges laid against him of conspiring to commit a terrorist act.

The plot that he and his partner in the conspiracy, Raed Jaser planned, to target a train travelling from New York City to Toronto, operated by U.S. rail service Ambrak south of the border and Via Rail within Canada, was simply for the purpose of treating Canadians to the kind of horrendous abuse that the West exposes the world of Islam to. A fair exchange, he believes, as a starter.

And lest the world be lulled into the belief that he represents a minor irritant, an anomaly in the world of Islam, comprised largely of moderate, peace-loving faithful, he has hastened to abuse that belief by stating himself to be far from unique: "I am only a drop of water in the sea, a detail". As for moderate and radical Islam differentiating the two; "there is only one Islam" and one god only, he attested.

The 31-year-old engineer and devout Muslim was not engaged in or committed to jihad when he entered Canada to study at University of Sherbrooke. It was while he was diligently carrying out his studies in Canada that he had access to books and websites relating to fanatical Islam. And where he joined a Muslim students' association, and where he began attending a local mosque.

And apparently where he was inducted into the movement for righteous Islamist vengeance against the West.

"I wasn't well", he told the La Presse interviewer, when he lived in Tunisia. For there, in his homeland, he was unaware of the grinding hatred that existed within Islam against the West, evidently. He had to come to a country like Canada to become fully immersed in the grim realities of his country's and his religion's degraded opinion by the West and its unflagging war against Islam.

He has no intention of being represented in court by a lawyer who is not familiar with the Koran, and capable of using it, not the law code of Canada, with which to defend him from the charges brought against him. Under Canadian law, the execution of a plan to kill civilians en masse  and destroy a rail system may represent a reprehensible crime, but the Koran instructs its faithful to engage in this manner through jihad.

He has stated his intention to represent himself in court, to be his own defense, should a lawyer not step forward who will be prepared to set aside the Criminal Code of Canada in favour of the Koranic writing and dictates that Mr. Esseghaier worships so mightily. For the Criminal Code of Canada is a human construct and the Koran quite clearly represents divine law.
