Boiling Jason Kenney Live

Just like a pack of hunting hounds eager for the chase, they snuffle about to pick up hints of any potential incidents however remotely useful, to begin once again howling for the head of a Minister of the Crown, citing irregularities, illicit initiatives, hinting of criminal actions, and hoping the public will pick up their hysteria and demand action. While accusing the government of blatant ideological bias imbuing decision making, their very own brand of no-holds-barred charging for the political jugular speaks volumes.

The Liberal/NDP/Bloc opposition have given Bev Oda a break, no longer calling for her resignation quite as hysterically, and have turned their focus on Jason Kenney. Minister of International Cooperation to the Minister of Immigration, both of whom have proven to be more than adept at managing their portfolios. Some might even consider Jason Kenney to be performing much above par, in comparison to others who have held that portfolio. His unswerving dedication to his job is beyond criticism.

Oops, guess it's not, since he's been landed in a deep well of ordure as a result of inattention to detail. So yes, it was more than a little sloppy for the letter forwarded under his auspices meant to go to Conservatives MPs, to have been printed on official parliamentary letterhead, when it clearly represented partisan political vote-targeting. And it does not sit particularly well that parliamentary aides paid by public taxes to do their work on behalf of the government, not a particular party, were being tasked with party work.

Bringing Minister Kenney up short on the issue was warranted. Lunatic leaps of logic that would demand his dismissal in a bid to impress on the public mind that the current Conservative-led government is not minding its responsibilities to the Canadian taxpayer in the quality of its performance is nothing less than absurd. It reeks of desperation and demonstrates aptly that the Liberals are a tad past anxious about their declining popularity with the voting public.

The Liberal record on grooming itself as the only political party in the country that looked to further the affairs of ethnic groups in their ridings only served to demonstrate how far Liberal MPs would go to ingratiate themselves with distinct ethnic groups capable of forming usefully formidable voting blocs. Habitually, Liberal MPs attended 'cultural' ethnic events that celebrated violent ethnic and religious and cultural and political differences in homeland countries in a blind effort to make themselves seen and involved, regardless of the event.

Now that the Conservatives are grooming themselves as the party whose interests are far spread, inclusive of various ethnic communities, and doing so in a far more inclusive manner without resorting to seeming to support ethnic tensions abroad being imported into Canada, the Liberals are shrieking foul! Like the boy who cried wolf! too many times, people are sick of it, and no longer interested in the details.

It's past time that the opposition parties sought to present themselves as interested in the welfare of the country and its citizens, working with the government to arrive at initiatives useful to the country and reflecting the issues of importance to people. Time, actually, for the opposition to lay down their bellicose 'gotchas' and become politically and emotionally mature and stable.

The major focus should be deflected from attaining and scoring points with the wider purpose being to achieve success at the ballot box. All things come to pass in good time and with reasonable order. Demonstrate consideration for the well-being of the country and do it in such a manner as to bring plaudits. Attacking the government at every conceivable opportunity, dredging up non-issues and nonsense won't do it.
