The Unfairness of It All!

"I think many things have happened since the 2008 election that lead me to believe ... that the Conservative party of today is not the same party that I worked so hard to develop." Rahim (sniff) Jaffer
Right. For one thing the Conservative party prospered when voters failed to return Rahim Jaffer as a Member of Parliament. Something about the man, the lack of gravitas in the office, his undue attention to self rather than the affairs of his constituents, perhaps? Well, thank heavens, and good on us that this is not the same party that Rahim Jaffer worked so hard to develop, eh?

It would be very impolite to call him a scurrilous little twerp, so no one should do that. But he is rather invested in himself. And of course it is utterly contemptible, what has occurred to his wife, Helena Guergis, formerly junior minister in the current Conservative cabinet, since stepped down on a point of honour. Oh, no? Got that wrong? Forcibly removed, and she has no idea why? That ... stinks. Poor woman.

After all, it was her office, and she could do with it what she would, including lending it out to her spouse. Her husband, after all? Her Blackberry? Well, she did have two after all, what on Earth would she need two for other than to hand one over to her helpmeet? Promises to potential clients that he had friends in high places in the current government, including, but not exclusive to only one minister? Well, that's ... business, isn't it?

And now, the government operations committee looking into allegations that he was involved in illegal lobbying and influence peddling is considering lodging a complaint against this impeccably-ethical man, of contempt of Parliament? Whaat?! Look, there's something smelly in the State of Denmark, er Canada, if a fellow is held guilty because he suffers occasional memory lapses.

That stuff about handing out his MP-inscribed business cards. Well, he needed some mode of identification, and he just happened to be wearing a suit he hadn't worn in oh, ages, and those cards were in his pocket. It was spontaneous, see? Nothing planned. But Rahim Jaffer is steaming about something else. The miserable manner in which his wife has been treated.
"It did not help that she has been under considerable stress as a result of her treatment by the Prime Minister and others."
Helena Guergis, lawfully wedded wife of Rahim Jaffer is in a delicate condition. A rare and lovely event will follow. She is - sniff-sniff - in the first trimester of a high-risk pregnancy. And her health has suffered, thanks to Prime Minister Harper, that dastardly man. "Today I was with my wife, as I should have been, when tests were conducted to ascertain the health of our baby."

How's the baby, Rahim? Kind of you to ask, fine, just fine.
