Politic?

This is a blog dedicated to a personal interpretation of political news of the day. I attempt to be as knowledgeable as possible before commenting and committing my thoughts to a day's communication.

Repeat after me:  Political correctness has outlived its purported usefulness to society.  Not necessarily because there never was a need to be sensitive to peoples` somewhat unusual needs due to unusual circumstances, but because the lengths to which society has seen fit to stretch its collective imagination and remedies to these sensitivity issues appears to have transcended common sense.

One of those transgressions against intelligent design is the decision by those clever folk who administer the University of Victoria infrastructure to alter some of their sanitary facilities.  To take what was once a men`s washroom and change it into an anyone`s washroom, and to do likewise with what was at one time a washroom for females.
"Many students on campus don`t identify as being either male or female - or they have received harassment and discrimination for not appearing to be of the gender of the washroom that they`re in.  These washrooms ... increase safety for folks who don`t conform to male or female stereotypes."  Chairwoman of UVic student society

So then, are we to assume that the University of Victoria has been blessed (or befuddled) with a preponderance of young men and women who are uncertain whether they are indeed men and-or women?  What has been happening to the population of young people?  Are the confused-of-gender so predominate in current society?

Not everyone seems to be thrilled with the fact that the formerly male washroom now has an extra-large barrier around the urinals and the formerly female washroom is free of urinals.  "Admittedly, it`s still a little gendered, but it`s a step in the right direction", said the UVic student society chairwoman archly, obviously dreadfully pleased with this new accommodation.

Not so pleased, however, are others:  "To convert the main visible washrooms as a political statement at the expense of vulnerable women is selfish and inconsiderate" runs the comment published in The Martlet, the campus newspaper.  The solution might have been the installation of an exclusive `trans` washroom, but for concerns it would be a target for bigots.

Oh.  "Something as simple as trying to use a toilet can become a nightmarish ordeal, being forced to show ID, detained or even arrested", according to Safe2Pee.org.

Now, however, ditto for all those not "trans", right?
